October

The knock on my apartment door broke me out of watching the television. When I went to answer it, Candice stood on the other side with Corey in her arms.
"He's sleeping," she warned me.
I opened the door wider to let her in. Since the separation started, she'd been bringing Corey over to my apartment on my weekends. She hasn't actually said so, but I know she prefers me being alone in the apartment to when I was at home with Beyoncé.
When she came in, she first went to lay him down, and then she came back into the living room.

"I have to run a few errands, but Corey wanted me to ask you if we could all watch a movie together tonight."
I sighed and rubbed my head. "Candice, I don't know about all that."
"Come on," she rolled her eyes. "I just bought this movie Hotel Transylvania, and he really wants to watch it. As a family."
I raised my brows. "A family?"
She rolled her eyes again. "You know what I mean."
"Alright. If he really wants to, then it's fine with me."
She smiled. "Thank you. And when he wakes up, can you take him shopping for a costume? He doesn't want to be The Hulk again this year."
"Yeah, of course."
"Alright. I'll see you in a few."
"See ya." I closed the door behind her.

Once she was gone, I went ahead and put my shoes on so we could head out once afore woke up, which I was sure wouldn't be too long afterwards. Sure enough, five minutes later, he came into the living room, rubbing his eyes and mumbling about his Halloween costume.
"Hey buddy!" I smiled and put him on the couch so I could put his shoes on. "Mommy says you don't want to be the Hulk again this year."
"I was Hulk last year, I want to be different this time."
"Alright, what do you want to be this year?"
He hummed while he thought. "I don't know. I just don't wanna be Hulk."
"Why not? Hulk is cool." I teased.
"Not anymore. He's not as cool as Spider Man."
"Is that who you wanna be? Spider Man?"
He shrugged. "I just wanna look first."
I laughed. "Alright man. That's fair."

We went to the store to find a costume, and since there were still two weeks until Halloween, there were plenty of costumes to choose from.
"Daddy, can we get candy too?" He asked.
"I don't want you to ruin your appetite. I'm making a hands-only spaghetti tonight. You don't want to miss out on that, do you?"
He still looked longingly at the candy. "Maybe we can have some for dessert?"
I sighed. What was the harm? "Alright, I'll get one bag, but we're not eating it all tonight. You'll have plenty of time to get a bunch of candy come Halloween."
As soon as I gave him the green light, he took off towards a bag of chocolate.

Afterwards, we went to the kids section to find him a costume. We were walking around for a while, and he still hadn't picked anything out yet. I decided to help him, so I was sifting through each costume to fine something he'd like, when he took his attention off of me, and suddenly, his eyes lit up.
"BB!" He yelled.
I immediately looked up from the costume rack, and standing across the walkway from us was Beyoncé. She was in the baby aisle looking at something. I looked up just in time to see her turn her head when she heard Corey call her name. Just that simple motion seemed so beautiful to me.
I'd been speaking to her on the phone weekly, but it was the first time I'd seen her in person in almost two months. And of course she always send me pictures and videos of the baby and how she's growing, but still, seeing her in person, in all her glowing beauty, almost knocked me off my feet.

"Hey baby!" She spoke to Corey, and she hugged him as best as she could with her growing belly in the way. She was much bigger than when I saw her last, but in the most beautiful of ways.
"BB, your tummy is so big!"
She laughed. "I know. The baby is growing. I still have two and a half more months to grow."
"Are you getting a costume for the baby? Daddy is getting me a costume."
She laughed. "No, the baby won't be ready to come out before Halloween, so I'll have to wait until next year. I'm just getting some regular clothes for the baby."
"Well, how is it gonna wear them if the baby is in your belly?"
She laughed again. "Well, we have to wait until the baby is born. But these clothes are for a newborn, so the baby will fit them by the time it comes out."
