Kiwi: Chapter Twenty One

Requirements are okay na and approved na rin thesis ko, Nagmock defense na rin kami and everything's turning out well. It was a Sunday afternoon after that hell week and the four of us eh tambay lang sa lobby.

"This is a lazy day. I can believe we're just lying here" Nick said

"Same babe, I don't want to do anything right now. Sobrang pagod these past few weeks grabe" Faye replied. She smiled pero kita mo sa face niya na pasuko na siya.

"We have 2 weeks of vacation pero hindi rin naman tayo magkakasama" Nick said "tuloy pa rin kayo pa US?" He asked Faye.

"Yes. Next week ang alis namin. Hindi pala kita makakasama ng one week baby no?" then sad face sila pareho.

Naisip ko, everyone's leaving tapos ako lang matitira dito sa dorm. It's that time of the year na naman na I need to pretend na okay lang sa akin magisa kahit na hindi. I want to be used to it pero ang hirap lalo na't nandito ka sa harap ng friends mong may plans para sa holiday.

"I believe excited si Kim, magkikita ba kayo ni Jini?" Nick asked.

"Siguro" Kim replied

"Eh, how about you Cindy? What are your plans for this coming holiday?"

"Hmm, maybe I will finish yung revision ng thesis docu ko, I'll watch movie and sleep" I grinned.

"Wala ka bang relatives dito?" Nick asked

"Wala, nasa Canada lahat ng tita ko"

"Hindi kaba pupunta don?"

"Nope, we're not in good terms"

"I see. Everyone's leaving, will you be okay here?"

"I will be okay" I said then smiled.

Calling...

Faye clicked her Skype application and full screen yung phone niya. It's Jini, video chatting. Faye told Jini na complete ang circle of friends na nakatambay lang sa lobby and Jini even greeted me na syempre, I greeted her. She said she's excited kasi nga pupunta sila Faye sa US and they will see each other.

Walang imik si Kim pero I can see that he's happy knowing na ilang days na lang, they can talk again ni Jini face to face, feelings to feelings. Baka pagbalik nina Kim dito, sila na ulit ni Jini and I think handa na ako for that. I almost forget na I have feelings pala for him kasi sobrang busy these past weeks.

The video call lasted for like half an hour kasi may class pa rin si Jini. This is the first time daw na nagvideo chat siya kay Faye kasi usually, si Kim lang daw kinakausap. As per Faye.

That night, una na akong nagpaalam sa kanila because I have to finish cleaning up the mess sa room ko, ang daming kong labahin which is nakaschedule na pupunta ako sa laundry shop this day pero dahil sobrang tamad nga, pinagpabukas ko na lang.

The next morning, first thing ko talagang ginawa eh pumunta sa laundry shop kasi mauubusan na akong ng damit. Pagdating ko sa shop, andun si Kim.

"Goodmorning" I greeted happily. He just looked at me then naglakad na papunta sa waiting chair.

Kala mo naman kagwapuhan sa umaga.

Nagflashback saken yung last time na talagang nagusap kami. Imagine, yung take home quiz pa yon. I don't have a chance to be with him and talk to him properly. We talked during lunch breaks parang debate then after that the next day na ulit kami nagkikita sa lunch because he's so busy rin naman.

Nilagay ko na damit ko, syempre segregated siya from white, colored and undies and I sat beside him. I know marami upuan pero may sakit ba siya para dun ako umuwi sa last row? Wala diba? Kaya nagdecide ako na tabihan siya.

He was just looking straight and nung tumingin ako, I can see our reflection sa laundry machine and he's looking at me through it.

I slowly looked at him, nakatingin pa rin siya sa laundry machine

"Problema mo?"

He looked at me "I just want to see if you're going to sit beside me"

"Oh tapos?"

"Masama bang tignan ka through that machine?"

"It's creeps the hell out of me"

This time nagkatinginan na kami. Good thing kami lang nasa laundry shop.

Mga ilang seconds lang tapos he looked away.

"Wala ka bang mapupuntahan this holiday?" he asked

"Kung meron ngayon pa lang baka andun na ako" I laughed pero syempre lugi. Bad mood ang lolo niyo.

"I see. Would you be okay? As far as I know walang matitira sa dorm ngayon kundi si ms. Iris"

"Oh, eh di si ms. Iris makakasama ko"

"Pero hindi siya nagcecelebrate ng Christmas, iba religion niya"

"Ehh di I will celebrate on my own"

"Have fun" he said with nangaasar tone

"I will"

After non, tumayo na siya kasi nagbeep na labahin niya. Umalis na siya without even saying goodbye sa akin. Grabe no?, feeling ko tuloy kinakausap lang niya ako para pampalipas oras. HMP.

After almost 30 mins, natapos na yung labahin ko. Paglabas ko ng shop may biglang kumuha ng bag ko.

"Oooiiiii!" when I looked, si Kim "what are you doing here?"

"I bought breakfast and decided to help you. Ayaw mo?" He asked

"May sinabi ba ako?" I grinned "thank you" tapos tinulak ko pa sa kanya yung bag

"Oh" inabot niya saken paper bag ng convenience store

Kinuha ko na kasi inisip ko pinapahawakan niya sa akin

Habang naglalakad papunta sa dorm, winawagayway ko pa yung paper bag

"so, lalaruin mo lang yan?" he asked. We stopped, I looked at him

"ha?" he looked at the paper bag, napahiya naman ako "ay, I'm sorry sensitive ka nga pala sa food" I laughed

"Anong sensitive sa food? I bought that for you tapos lalaruin mo lang?"

I looked at him with confused face "para sa akin ba to?"

"Alangang sa akin?"

"I thought pinapahawakan mo lang" I laughed so hard

"Cindy, wake up" he said tapos umuna na siya maglakad sa akin

Medyo tumakbo ako ng konti kasi ang bilis niya maglakad "thank you Kim"

"I'm sorry" he said

"Uhm? For what?"

"Yung time nung last take home quiz. I felt bad sa nangyari"

"Ahh, don't be, it's my fault rin naman, napakelaman ko things mo"

"It's okay na. I bought that for peace offering"

"I see" I smiled

"Yes. Baka kasi galit ka sa akin or maisip mo na hate kita kahit hindi naman"

"Kim" I stopped and faced him "sa tingin mo ba iisipin ko pa rin na hate mo ako?"

"Baka lang naman, kaya inunahan na kita. I am always the bad guy sayo e"

I just looked at him and kinuha ko yung bag from his hands. I saw his shocked face

"I can handle from here" tapos binalik ko sa kanya yung paperbag. "I just thought na youre worried na baka hindi pa ako nagbbreakfast or something. Yun pala pambawi lang sa nangyari nung nakita ko photos niyo ni Jini"

"Wait, I thought about that too kaya nga binilhan kita ng food, why are you acting this way?"

"Stop being so kind! If may misunderstanding man tayo, you can always say sorry. I can accept as simple as that. Don't go around buy something then say something. Taliwas kasi yung ginagawa mo sa sinasabi mo"
