Yvonne's POV

I snap my head at the tall dude. Then back at Dallas. Then back at the tall dude again.

"The resemblance is uncanny." I mumble and the both of them snap out of their glaring competition and focus on me then slowly back at themselves again. I'm not lying though. They have the same brown almost black hair with some falling to the front and the same jawline and brown eyes.

Tall dude smiles, still staring at Dallas. 'You've grown little man. How many years ago has it been?"

Dallas doesn't answer. 'Cos he's busy clenching his fists and glaring at Tall dude.

Tall dude uses his fingers to count. "One Three Five years?"

"Three years to be exact." I turn to decipher who said that and see that it's Alyssa. Her eyes are filled with so much hatred.

Well looks like Dallas is not the only one glaring at him. And... I feel awkward in this weird family reunion.

Alex is still on the ground and I want reach out to him and hug him so badly but I can't.

She continues, "You cheated on me repeatedly, You gambled and became a drunkard. You allowed women to dupe you. You left us at our desperate time of need. And after seeing us for the first time in three years you're still the same to me. A drunk, liar and a cheat."

He waves Alyssa off. "Have we not had our own discussion? You were always a talkative and will always be one. Allow me to talk to my son would ya?"

"I'm not your son." Dallas finally mentions.

My mind flashes back to the time when Dallas told me about his past. I remember the hardness on his face when he talked about his Dad leaving them when their financial situation was getting hard. They must really hate him. A part of me hates him too for putting them through a lot and even having the guts to come back to their life and capturing his own wife and my brother at that. But still...

"Where's Talon? Is he like your boss or something?" I ask, my senses on high alert. I'm trying to buy time so that the police can get here even though I really need the information.

A hint of amusement, like he has something big on his mind flashes across his face.

"Oh Talon. You'll see him. Hopefully. In Paradise."

Dallas takes a step forward. "What do you mean by that?"

Tall dude fakes confusion. "Paradise? Like where all good people will go to at the end?"

Dallas narrows his eyes. "So, if I should understand you correctly, I would realize that Talon is actually still dead?"

Tall dude chuckles deeply. "Wow. It sounds even more stupid coming out from your mouth."

Dallas' eyes widen in realization and confusion. Something else, anger as he tries to briskly walk towards him to hit him.

As though Tall dude already knows what he's going to do he shakes his head. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." The men behind him aim their guns at Dallas and he stops.

For a few seconds the tension in the room becomes so sharp that it could slice a whale in half.

"Hold on hold on." I abruptly get between the two of them. Then I smile stupidly. "You know we could work this out right? Things don't have to be like this. Right?"

Dallas glares at me. "Yvonne would you rather I throw you out of the way or you want my dear father to do it for you?"

"Okay. Okay. But dear father." I mockingly say. "Would you like to expatiate on what you meant by Talon is dead?"

Tall dude sighs frustratedly. "You people are dumber than I gave you credit for. I'll tell you. But first," he motions to his armed men. "Tie them up already! Airheads."

They tie us up. I don't really struggle because I do not have that kind of strength and I just didn't feel up to it. What? I'm just very lazy. Dallas struggled though and they just put my brother on a side of the room.

By now Tall dude is sitting on a chair, legs crossed.
"Once upon a time there was a family. Ha! This feels like Witchhunters. Okay straight to the point. Talon is dead. But in what way was he able to give all those threatening phone calls you may ask?

"Well he didn't. The thing is, as you all well know, I'm a gambler, a cheat, a liar and a drunk. But, that wasn't the only thing I was. I also did drugs." He grins as though he just won a lottery. "Pretty cool to add to my list right?"

"Anyway, I was so hooked on drugs that I owed some money and came face to face with a gang leader who obviously was involved in distributing drugs. He said I looked like someone he was involved with before."

"He said that the guy had a best friend that screwed up his plans. He told me that the name of this dude was Dallas McGregory but his gang name was Xander and that his friend's name was Maxwell James but his gang name was Talon."

You're going way over detail dude. Just get straight to the point. I think and roll my eyes.

"I realized that I could use this to my advantage so I told him that the boy is my son. So he told me that the boy was the best of all the people that has been trained in his gang and that he wants him back. By the way, I'm proud of you son." He mentions still grinning.

When I glance at Alyssa I see disappointment imprinted on her face. When I glance at Dallas I see shame.

"So if I am able to bring him back to the gang I would be relieved of my debt and I will in fact get extra money. And, who doesn't want some money? Right? So, me being as I am used different tactics to get you here. And here you are. The end. Did anybody like my story?"

Silence.

Then gunshot. On the same leg Dallas was shot before.

"Arrgh!!" He screams.

"Dallas!" I shout, shocked to the bone. I try to reach him, but I'm tied up tightly. I look back at Tall dude with a handful of loathing. "He's your son! Has all your years in neglect caused you brain damage or are you just this heartless?"

He fakes concern. "Oh! Look what you made me do.

Look what you made me do. Look what you just made me do. Look what you just made me ooo... I immediately snap out of my thoughts and inwardly groan. Seriously Yvonne!

"Next time, if I ask you something, you answer. Or someone else will get hurt. Preferably him." He motions to Alex and my eyes widen. Oh no you don't.

So he claps his hands together. "So Dallas, would you do the honor of being a gang member again?" He asks the question like he's proposing or something and I inwardly gag.

Everybody now has their eyes fixed on Dallas.

"What do you say? Xander."
