Fourteen

I could vaguely see Eric and the rest of our team as they engaged in multiple firefights with Four's team. I kept listening for any trouble, then I heard Four shoot Eric in the shoulder. I growled lowly.

I tried not to remember much of the training Aiden helped me go through when he smuggled one of Dad's guns outside. We had used the same ammo, but I took it farther by training in the dark.

I closed my eyes and timed my shot. I heard Four yelp, then I felt one of the darts hit me in my right bicep. I mumble a curse word, somehow knowing it was Tris or Aiden that shot me. Or maybe it was Aiden's wife he never told me about when he visited after making Dauntless Leader.

I steady my heartbeat again and shoot Tris. I heard her yelp, then I heard the trap door to the tower open.

Shit, I forgot about Aiden!

"Pay back is gonna be a bitch," Aiden barked at me.

I swung around and shot him in the thigh again as he shot me in my left hip. We kept shooting each other until the darts were gone.

Aiden ran at me, but I jumped over him. He hissed and at the same time both of us pulled the darts from our bodies. I had never fought my older brother before, except the play wrestling we did when he was fourteen and I was four.

Aiden and I circled each other, both of us strategizing against the other. He swung at me, but I brought my right knee up to his gut just in time. Aiden's breath caught in his throat, giving me the chance to slam my right elbow down in between his shoulders.

Aiden wheezed, but he got back up, then he tried to punch me again. I cartwheel backwards, kicking him in the chest. He started to pant and sweat while I was sweaty, but I wasn't tired.

Aiden swung one final time before I tackled him and knocked him out. I picked the flag up and held it up, showing that our team were the winners after I saw Peter holding Four's team's flag.

Eric's comment from earlier echoed in my mind.

Good Girl, Cade.
