"(Y/n)?"
She lifted her head up from her desk, trying her hardest to focus on the boy standing in her doorway.
"(Y/n)?"
The outline of the boy approached her, slightly allowing her to focus on his form. She let out a sigh before rubbing her eyes and looking over at the clock on her desk.
"Nestor... it's three a.m. What are you doing here?" (Y/n) asked, looking back at the now clear image of her roommate, Ethan.
"I'm checking up on you. Everyone knows that you're prone to falling asleep here." He explained, handing her a cup of coffee that he had brought to her, "But of course, you're not going to leave yet, are you?"
(Y/n) smiled gently, taking a large sip of her doctored coffee.
"You know me too well." She replied, setting her coffee down to the side. She looked back at the papers that she had been sleeping on top of, scanning over their words.
Ethan peered over her shoulder, inspecting her resources.
"Is this the case about that girl, Celine?" (Y/n) nodded her head as she shuffled her papers around.
"You betcha, kiddo. I've found some interesting things, to say the least."
Ethan nodded in response, his eyes glued onto the papers that (Y/n) had collected. Seeing his intense stare, she let out a hearty laugh.
Ethan and she had been roommates for a couple months now. He moved into her apartment in August upon her invitation. He had been attending law school in the area, and since she was already planted here, she decided that splitting the rent would probably be more efficient for her anyhow.
Ethan was a very sweet kid - she knew of him when they were in high school together, but it wasn't until her junior year that she really got to know him. She was helping assist with gymnastics and such and ended up being his coach. The kid had always been flexible, and she saw so much potential in him.
Of course, when he had told her that he had given up gymnastics for law school, she couldn't help but laugh. He was such a sweet kid - some of those lawyers would destroy him if they had the chance.
But for his first year, he seemed to really be getting the hang of things. He felt as if he truly fit in, and with an internship under the current district attorney, he would be sure to get any kind of job with his experience.
"What would you like to know about this case?" (Y/n) asked him, smiling slightly as he seated himself across her desk.
"Everything..." He whispered out, still mesmerized by the papers that she held in her hands. She smirked before throwing her papers in front of Ethan, making him jump from the noise.
"Celine is a part of a very wealthy and influential line of descendants. As a matter of fact, there are reports of her great-great-grandmother being a seer. And interestingly enough, the old bat's name was Celine as well."
Ethan looked up from the papers, a furrowed brow on his countenance.
"Aren't those just phony magicians?"
"Well, from what ended up happening at this manor, I'm not too sure. It turns out that there were a string of disappearances from this mansion. The victims were never found, but there was evidence of homicide by the blood that they found." She explained, watching Ethan quickly scan the papers that she had provided. He looked up at her.
"And they never found any bodies?"
"Correct."
"Do you think that someone would have stolen the bodies, or maybe even this great-great-grandmother of Celine's used the corpses as sacrificial offerings?"
