"What?!" The girl shouted out, causing Ethan to attempt to hush her.
"(Y/n), you have to be quieter." Ethan advised. (Y/n)'s shaky form relaxed into the booth she was seated in, and she pinched the bridge of her nose.
"This better not be a joke, Tyler."
"I don't know why you'd think that I would be messing with you about something so serious."
"Ah, okay. Are you calling in SWAT or?"
"One of my buddies is working on it, but we're not sure that we can get in with him standing there having a gun. The problem is, once he sees someone in uniform approach him, he starts... firing..? But they just seem to be blanks."
(Y/n) paused her speech for a moment, looking back to Ethan with a devious smile on her face. Sensing that she was about to make a questionable decision, Ethan reached to snatch the phone away and talk to 'Officer Smiles' himself and see if he could help, but she pulled away. (Y/n) could make crazy decisions at times, and he didn't want this to be one of them.
"Then I'll stop by and distract him."
There it is.
Ethan groaned, running a lazy hand through his hair. Here she went again, doing something that she would probably regret in the future.
"(Y/n), I'm not letting you come over here. If you do, I'll lock you in my police car,"
"That's no way to treat an old friend! Besides, you said that they were just blanks."
"I'm not letting you do that - you'll get yourself killed. Even if he wasn't a threat, you would still find a way to get hurt. I know you."
"But Tyler!~" She whined, "I won't do anything rash! I promise-"
A few more gunshots rang in her ears and she could hear Tyler whisper quietly to another officer next to him.
"I have to go, (Y/n). Please, don't do anything stupid."
"You'll see me soon, Schied."
"I swear..."
The man on the other side of the phone hung up, leaving (Y/n) to recite the happenings to Ethan, who had been relatively left in the dark.
"You're not actually gonna go there, are you?"
"Not now, but I'll investigate it after they leave. If there really is a problem, I don't want my head to be blown off."
"Did they get a good description of the man in the house?"
"He didn't say, but since they said he was standing in the window, I can only assume that they've seen his features." She replied, taking a slow sip of her drink, "But a shotgun seems quite barbaric for a Los Angeles mansion, doesn't it? And besides, Celine had said that there weren't any other people in the home. At least, in her report."
"Just because she swore on the stand doesn't mean that she'll tell the truth." Ethan countered, taking a drink of his hot chocolate. (Y/n) shrugged her shoulders, nodding her head at the remark.
"Yeah, you're right. Celine could have lied about all of it."
Had she also lied about the 'people will be killed' part? It seemed to make sense that she would have, considering it made even the attorney feel apprehensive about investigating the property. Celine surely had put a doubt in her mind, and she was beginning to feel foolish for it.
"You can't really blame her though. From what I read, that house has been with her family for generations."
"Then that should be all the more reason to make sure it wasn't taken away from her."
