"What exactly are you saying, Will?"

Celine looked at William with expectant eyes, hands resting on what she had described as a spell book. It was no longer a secret that she was a descendant of a witch. The way Celine was gazing at her lover made (Y/n) dizzy. The sage's whole demeanor reeked of doubt and worry, and that spelled trouble to this meeting.

"(Y/n), my purpose of telling you this is to also thank you for bringing out the old him I used to know in Dark—the compassionate, vulnerable man I was close to. He's been a dear friend of mine, and you deserve every piece of credit for making him who he has changed into. I know I haven't contributed to anything good."

Benjamin stood next to Dark, resting his hand on his shoulder delicately, but with a smile across his face. William's office was still a bit muggy from the amount of dust in the room, but he was confident that it would be able to be cleaned in due time, whatever that meant to (Y/n).

"As you know, there is a barrier around this house. That barrier makes it impossible for one, us to leave, and two, to be removed of any other spells that were cast from this spell book."

He gestured to the book in front of Celine.

"Dark performed that spell without realizing that it was meant for one person to travel at a time. Not three."

'... Three?'

She kept her questions to herself and let William continue.

"As a result, Dark is suffering. He can't be relieved of the consequences unless the curse of the mansion has been lifted."

Dark's lip started to quiver.

"Well, what do we have to do to lift the curse?"

Both Celine and Ben hung their heads down, Dark nervously fidgeting with the cuffs on his suit.

"The curse that was originally performed used three sacrifices to seal the barrier. Therefore, it takes another three sacrifices to undo it."

Celine opened up the spell book and flipped through a few pages. Although she managed to let him talk up until this point, (Y/n) couldn't allow herself to not oppose what he was saying. Her hands shook.

"Sacrifices...? Will, please tell me that—"

"I'm volunteering my life in order to save Dark's."

"So am I." Celine chimed in, a sympathetic smile crossing her face. Benjamin gave a loving tap to Dark's shoulder and nodded.

"I am as well."

"I can't... wrap my head around any of this. What do you mean by 'sacrifice', William?"

"I know this is a lot at once," Celine started softly, "But we've all had a discussion about this. We're not doing this against our will, and frankly, we're happy to be the ones that save Dark's life."

"I'm still against this." Dark said lowly, biting his lower lip. Ben turned Dark towards him and put his gloved hands on both of his shoulders.

"Listen to us, please, young master. We want to do this for you. We want you to be able to have a normal life with Ms. (Y/n)."

Dark peered over at the girl for a moment, letting him see the tears that were gathering in her eyes. (Y/n) shook, her mind elsewhere as she stared at the ground in front of her.

"(Y/n) doesn't need to go through anymore pain."

Dark looked up at Benjamin, a collection of tears gathering in his own eyes.

"It should be no secret that Celine and I were together outside of these mansion walls in this lifetime." Will pulled on his suspenders nervously, "The only thing that brought me back to the mansion, and the reason why I left the love of my life, was the guilt and the torture my previous lover put on me. (Y/n), I've lived as long as I want to. Now that I have her back, I want paradise. If I can get that and save Dark's life at the same time, I don't see why I wouldn't try it."

"But there's no going back! What if this doesn't work?"

"Then I can spend eternity with my partner and the man who half-raised me." Will gestured to Ben and Celine, who both gave a shy smile. The joy they showed did anything but help (Y/n). Her head felt like it was spinning.

"Will, this is crazy!" Tears gathered at her eyes, "You can't do this! You can't!"

"(Y/n)."

"You have to rethink this, please!—"

"(Y/n)."

The girl turned around, only to be embraced in a pair of strong arms. Dark hugged her tightly, holding back tears himself.

"We need to go downstairs."

"Dark, I can't—"

Another one of his coughing fits echoed through the room, lasting a lot longer than she would have liked it to.

"Please."

(Y/n) took a deep breath and let it out, releasing the tension in her body. There was nothing she could fight anymore; it seemed like the decision was already being made for her.

Dark let go of the shaken girl, only giving her a moments rest before another pair of arms embraced her neck.

"This is what I want." Celine whispered gently into her ear, holding her tighter when she felt her shoulders shake, "I want this for you, too."

(Y/n) kept her mouth shut, even though she wanted to scream at all of them—anything to make them change their minds. They didn't deserve to die, even if it was to save Dark's life and send them to 'paradise'. The thought of death was and always will be terrifying.

Dark strained his tense body when he sat down on the sofa in the foyer. They both would have left the mansion to avoid hearing the... commotion, but Dark was still entrapped in this building. He tried to convince his love to at least wait outside, but she refused to be without him. For good reason, as the both of them were now quietly sobbing together.

"I can't believe you made me sit like this."

(Y/n) was referring to the way Dark was holding her against him like a tired or sick child, head against his chest while cradling her body tightly across his lap. He wiped a tear away from his face, nodding in response.

"If you're gonna stay here with me, I want you as close to me as possible. After all..."

He squeezed his eyes shut, his chin quivering.

"You're the only one I'll have left."

Muffled chanting echoed into the front hall, bringing the couples' attention to the second floor where Wilford's office was. The door had been closed, put that didn't stop the Latin phrases from being engraved into both of their minds.

Dark acted quickly, putting his free hand over her open ear, pressing her closer against him in order to close off hearing to the other. She sat still in his arms, leaning closer into him as they braced themselves for the sounds that would come about soon.

"Someday I wish upon a star, wake up where the clouds are far,"

(Y/n) melted into Dark's sad song, holding the hand that was against her ear in an attempt to comfort him. He was singing to console himself, but to also produce noise to cancel out what (Y/n) might hear.

"Where trouble melts like lemon drops, high above the chimney top. That's where..."

Dark's chest heaved ever so slightly, every fiber in his body fighting against his emotions that were doomed to come out at full force soon enough. He took a deep breath. The chants were becoming louder.

"... you'll find me."

They cold entity pulled his lover even closer to him, desperate for any clambering of love and comfort. The chanting stopped.

"Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high. And the dreams that you dare to, oh why? oh, why can't—"

One gun shot. Two gun shots. And finally, the third shot. Dark shook with each piercing noise, a tear droplet falling on (Y/n)'s cheek as the noises dissipated and everything went silent.

"... I."
