I will be updating this story once a week now (instead of twice). Although there's not much demand at school right now, I'd rather prepare myself just in case. Hope you guys understand. :)
Enjoy!

The inside of the house didn't at all match what was seen on the outside. It was dingy, extremely dim, and especially dusty. How often did she even come to this place? Why didn't she clean it? Sure, no one can really clean a house to spotlessness, but she could try. The house was filthy.
(Y/n) closed the door behind her, making sure to put in a little more effort to lock it. You never knew who or what would be knocking at your door, and being in an area that she wasn't quite familiar with caused (Y/n) to feel oddly paranoid. She had seen enough from her own career as well as heard enough of Tyler's stories to understand the consequences of letting her guard down.
"Meow!"
Startled, (Y/n) whipped back around was she turned away from the door, only to be greeted with what looked like a white Persian Cat sitting in front of her. Where did it come from? How in the world was it so silent?
Something about sneaky, silent cats always bothered her. The fact that they were always watching and observing. She personally liked dogs better — their unconditional love and loyalty was something a cat could never compete with.
"Good morning, Maya." Celine greeted from over her shoulder. (Y/n) found herself following the woman into the kitchen where she seemed to be grabbing some wet cat food. She tore open the seal, the cat immediately hoping onto the counter top where her owner was quickly preparing her dish.
"Meow~"
"I know sweetheart. Hang on, mommy's getting your food for you. Why don't you say hi to our guest?"
'Is she... talking to it? As if it'll talk back...?'
The cat turned to look at (Y/n), it's glimmering green eyes dancing in interest and curiosity. The attorney felt slightly unsettled by it's unwavering stare, but did her best to simply pet the cat in return. The Persian let her, and upon contact began to rub her head on the girl's attentive hand. (Y/n) smiled.
"You're such a good kitty, Maya." The cat's purring got even louder as it registered the girl's praises. Her whiskers twitched as (Y/n) scratched behind her ear, almost making her body freeze for a moment. The girl laughed, her hand abandoning Maya's head as Celine pulled the cat's attention to the food that was laying on a plate before her.
The cat eagerly began to eat what seemed to be an early brunch, obviously hungry. Celine took her hand and stroked the cat up until the end of her tail.
"Mommy's going to talk to your new friend. I'll be back in a little bit, okay?" The cat didn't respond, but glimpsed over at her owner for a moment as if to tell her that she understood. Celine smiled at the pet, now turning to (Y/n) with a smirk on her face.
"Let's go check out the attic."
(Y/n) nodded, allowing Celine to lead the way out of the kitchen and into the living room directly across from the entrance.
"You know, I'm surprised that Maya likes you already."
"Me too." (Y/n) agreed, "I'm not the biggest cat person, so I'm shocked that she liked me."
"Well, she was a foster mom back in the day. She loved on those who didn't want her to, but ended up helping a lot of kittens and even dogs learn manners. This house used to be full of animals." She explained, pointing towards some of the pictures hanging up on the walk as the two of you slowly walked past them. The two of them eventually came to a stop, taking a moment to appreciate the memories in the picture.
