An odd sense of calm washed over (Y/n) as she regained her own consciousness. Her eyes adjusted to the light that poured into the bedroom from the window, the brightness of it straining her sight slightly. She sat up, careful to not agitate a headache by her quick movements. She held her temples, feeling a strange numbing sensation course through her frontal lobe.

"Ah, I hope I'm not dying." She said coldly, laughing to herself as she took her moment of clarity to glance around the room. Dark was nowhere in sight, but everything else seemed to be as it normally was. Nothing was out of place, and she hadn't been moved aside from her movements throughout her seemingly short slumber. She scratched the top of her head, wondering where Dark would have gone to. Sure, he said that he would now have the ability to be in her mind, but from the sounds of it, he wasn't actually physically inside of her head. Just a subconscious, forced manifestation of himself.

"Where are you?" (Y/n) spoke aloud, knowing that Dark would possibly hear her somehow. Although she presumed this, there was no response.

'Being mysterious as always. Not agitating at all.'

"I try hard to not be much of an annoyance, but it seems that this is quite the exception. I appreciate the way that you feel about me."

(Y/n)'s head whipped around, attempting to follow the sound of his very clear and outspoken voice. Even though it sounded like Dark was simply right there in front of her, he was nowhere to be seen.

"Sweetheart. I told you I can talk to you through your mind." He spoke out again, causing the girl to let out a groan in frustration. She held her hand up to her forehead, eyes clenched shut as she tried to make-due of the situation.

"So, let me get this straight. You can speak to me whenever you'd like—"

"Yes."

"—And you'll sound this close to me."

"I don't believe I have a volume control setting."

"And also deal with a snarky demon in my head."

"I am not a demon, (Y/n)."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night." She ended, rolling her eyes as she hopped out of bed and redid the covers and straightened out the pillows thrown askew. She heard a silent 'thank you' from Dark, but she decided to ignore it as she figured he hadn't wanted her to hear it, "So, where exactly are you right now?"

"In your mind."

"Obviously." She retorted, "I mean where are you physically?"

"In my bed. Otherwise, I would potentially injure myself. No worries, I always make sure that Benjamin is watching me closely in order to maximize my own safety."

"And Benjamin is—?"

"The butler."

"Ah, yes. My cop-buddy-doppelganger."

"Excuse me?"

She sucked in a deep breath, reminding herself that he didn't know Tyler.

"Never mind."

She could hear Dark let out an inaudible grumble, causing her bland face to fill with a smug smile. But her face fell as she remembered the first part of their conversation. She stopped her movements, planting her feet firmly on the ground.

"Yes. I can read your mind."

"Well, how about you not do that and we should get along mildly well."
