"What do you want to take to the hospital?"
Mandy asked as she went through the drawers of baby clothes.
"Get the cute little onesies with their names on it."
I said as I sat down in the rocking chair. Mandy and I have been pretty civil with one another. Some might even call us friends. She was really helpful with picking out stuff for the babies and Aliyah.
"Got it. I'll grab some diapers and then this bag is good to go."
She said with a smile. I looked around the room as I sighed. I always imagined that Fergal and I would bring Harper and Maddox home to our house. But that's not how things were going to go. I was probably going to have to raise them with Kyle, Seth, and Mandy. And they'll never get to know their real dad.
"Baby bag is good."
Mandy said as she walked back into the nursery.
"Great."
I said as I put a hand on my bump.
"Do you think they'll come early?"
Mandy asked.
"I don't know. I just want them to be happy and healthy."
I said with a sigh.
"Hey, I'm sorry for what I did when you first got here. I wanna be your friend in here. I wanna protect you guys."
Mandy said with a smile. I didn't have any room to make enemies in this house. I needed an ally. A friend.
"That would be great."
I said with a smile.
"Great. Do you think the babies have everything they need?"
She asked as she looked around the nursery.
"Yeah. But, they could always use more diapers. Especially with twins."
I said as I got up from the chair.
"I'll run out and grab a couple boxes."
She said with a smile. I smiled as she walked out of the nursery. Something about her concerned me...but I just didn't know what.
