I sighed as I sat at the edge of the rooftop again, waiting for my partner, Howler. He usually is never late but, today, it's different...everything is different quite honestly. My school, my classmates, even my friends. I don't know how much more of this whole Protector thing I can stand. It's just all too much.  It's only been a few weeks since I've been this and I already am scared.

Come on Garroth. You'll get used to it after a while.

What if I don't? Ekon, everyone is talking about me and they don't even know it. Not even the people I'm closest to. Why can't I tell them?

With that, he was gone. With that, the guilt crept on me again. Knowing that my friends don't know who I am really I am, knowing that if one time, I don't walk out of battle alive...they won't know what happened to me. Not even my family.

I put on a smile as I looked back to see Howler jumping onto the roof. He smirked, seeing me.

"You seem to be thinking about something," He said, sitting down next to me. "What's going on in that beautiful brain of your's?"

I died down my blush and sighed.

"Do you ever feel, guilty about...about being this?"

"Being what?"

"Heroes."

"No, why?"

"We live basically a second life. A lie."

"P, how is it a lie when we are being us?"

"But we're not."

"How so?"

"I'm not this, Wolfie. I already told you. I'm not the hero or amazing person you think I am."

"Neither am I, P."

I sighed and lied down on the roof, looking up at the stars above. It was definitely breath taking.
