I used a fire escape to get to the roof of a building. That way it was easier to travel without getting caught. I completely forgot it was a Friday night in the city and the streets would be packed. I needed to make a stop before meeting up with Howler and I needed to get there quickly.
Once I reached the rooftop of the destination, I was lucky to have a way to reach the window by climbing down carefully. Once I reached the window sill, (Goodness, I'm having flashbacks to Heartbeat! Let me know if you are a reader from back in the olden days!)  I was a bit disappointed to see the curtains closed but, I knocked on the glass with the back of my fingers. It was only a matter of time before the curtains were drew back and a pair of ember eyes met mine. She seemed shocked at the very least but, let me in.

"Protector? What are you doing here?", She asked. "I mean, I'm honored but,", She looked around her room and rubbed the back of her neck, "my dorm isn't that interesting."

"It's okay Miss...", I tried acting like I didn't know her name.

"Aphmau."

"Oh! Thank you!", I says, trying to keep my character on. "Miss Aphmau, I was here to inform you that...Garroth Ro'Meave has agreed to turn himself in."

"W-What?"

I bit my lip. On top of that, I blushing because of the moonlight hitting her beautiful face. Her hair was in a messy bun and she was in a sweatshirt and leggings. Her glasses perfectly straight on the bridge of her nose.

"He wanted me to tell you that, it's for the greater good-"

"To have him become some...servant?", She asked.

"He just wants to protect you."

"Who's going to protect him?"

"I will,", I smiled, reassuring her, taking her hands. "I promise he'll be safe. I have a plan to make sure he'll be in class on Monday."

She took her hands back and frowned, holding herself. She bit her lip and I couldn't help but, noticed tears brimming her eyes. I wanted to hug her...so badly and tell her the truth.

Don't kid. You know-

Why not? Ekon, I have to.

...Garroth, do what is right. The girl can't know and you know that.

Ekon, please.

No!

"Do you promise?", Aphmau asked weakly.

"I promise,", I say, crossing my heart.

She took a shaky breath and as I thought that she would be okay with it, she got that look on her face. Like she wasn't going to let it happen.

"Hold on,", She says, grabbing her phone. "Where is Garroth?"

"He's, uh, already there," I lied.

"Oh, really? So, if I were to text him right now he would say he's there?"

"He might not have his phone. Y-You know. Prisoner stuff."

She narrowed her eyes at me.

"Why can't you, I don't know, figure out a different way than turning him in?", She asked. "Aren't you suppose to be the hero here?"

"Y-Yes But-"

"No buts, Protector. I'm not letting you turn him in!", She stern said.

"Why?", I asked. "He's doing it for the greater good and he's going to help a lot of-"

"I don't care,", She says. "I care for him too much to see him be captured like this! He...He means a lot to me and I cannot let you take him to that monster!"
