I looked behind me to see at least a dozen cop cars were on the street. The officers were holding people back and I saw my friends in the mix of everything. They looked terrified for me and Howler. I assume that Blaze told them. I hope that Blaze told them. I turned back to Shadow. Things were getting worse by the second. My brain was way too frantic to think of anything logical and the last thing I need is Blaze or our friends getting hurt. I could feel the blood from my face flow down my face. I didn't know where the cut began or ended but, all I knew that it was deep and it won't stop bleeding until I get medical help. Blaze was also in a panic. He just hit with the news that his friend since who knows how long is our enemy and he probably is worried about my wound.
Kid, you better think of something.
What if Blaze and I lead him away from the town square? Somewhere away from everyone at least.
That could work. But, how are you going to manage that.
Trust me. I know.
Good luck Garroth...I hope you know what you're doing.
"Here we are,", Shadow said, holding his sword out towards us. "After weeks of battles and planning to lead up to this moment. The moment where I will rid of the two who are holding me back from controlling this city."
"You should just shut up then,", Blaze growled. "That way you can at least try at accomplishing that." I have to admit. Blaze is good at come backs...sorta.
Shadow didn't hesitate in doing so. He charged at us, sword in flames. Once his sword was near us, I blocked it with mine. Howler came in with his claws and scratched Shadow's side, causing him to stumble to the side. I was about to charge again but, I was shot back a few feet, my left side hitting the pavement at I skidded across it. It took me a second to process but, I tried to push myself up.
You have two large wounds on your left shoulder and you also wounded the left side of your rib cage. Thankfully you didn't break anything.
I took Ekon's information and used my strength to push myself up and grab my sword a foot away from where I had fallen. I could fee the pain surge through me. I saw that Blaze wasn't in the best shape either. He was still on the ground and holding his bleeding arm. Shadow seemed to push us aside for now and focus on the people. I took that time to move over to Blaze.
"Oh my-Wolfie!", I say, kneeling next to him. "I'm fine..,", He huffed, looking up at me with a weak smile.
"See what it's like to see the only people who could protect you be knock down!", Shadow's voice boomed. "Imagine that! Imagine it happening to so many people! Yet, you don't help them!" I narrowed my eyes as I saw his hands spark. He was planning something. I clutched Blaze's hand to help comfort him while, keeping an eye on Shadow. "I'm the thing that drives those people who are picked on, to become me! I'm the person who can help them! Who can help you!" The ground crumbled more and more pieces of the pavement were raised. "Or could destroy you!"
He threw the rocks towards the crowd, making everyone panic. I raised my shield, making a wall to guard them. As the stone hit, my head felt like it was being split apart. I was growing weak and I needed to do something. Blaze knew what I was thinking and said;
"Don't do this. He'll hurt you more!", He said.
"I need to. You know that,", I say, trying to calm him down. More rock hit the wall, causing me to sharply inhale. I felt Blaze softly caress my head. "I-I'm okay...Just do me a favor."
"Anything."
"Don't die and if I don't get out of this alive, just tell everyone...thank you. For making me feel loved..."
"P-P..."
As I looked into his eyes, that's when I knew...
I should've chose him sooner. No one made my heart beat as quickly as he did. I rest my forehead on his...
"I love you, Wolfie. Remember that."
"Garroth,", He says, holding my head on both sides now. "Stop. You're not going."
No one shows me more love than him.
"You can't fight like this,", I say, tears streaming down my face as another rock hit the wall.
I don't understand how I could've been so blind....
"I gotta go."
I kissed him one last time stood on my feet to his dismay. He tried to stand as well, but, he kept losing balance and falling back down.
"Stop aiming at them,", I say, to Shadow, gripping my sword. "You're suppose to aim at me."
He laughed and said;
"Noted."
I ran off, leading him away from everyone. A place where Laurance wouldn't get hurt. A place where Aphmau, Dante, Travis, and Katelyn wouldn't get hurt. A place where Blaze wouldn't...
The park.
•••
I rush through trees and grass. I heard Shadow close behind. I was close to the center of the park before I tripped. I freaking tripped.
I stood up again and then, I noticed...
I wasn't in my form. I looked at necklace to see that the cross had fallen off the chain. I scrambled around trying to find the charm. Nothing.
"No..."
Okay. Change of plans. I saw the observatory in the distance. Perfect. Just...no powers. That's fine. Sure.
I'm sorry Ekon. I can't bring you along for this one.
I pushed myself forward to the observatory.
