Third Person

Blaze opened his eyes, blinking a few times to get used to the light. The ceiling was a boring creme color, making the area a bit eerie to say the least. He looked around and realized that he was in a hospital room. Next to him, to his right, was his monitor and, to his left, was a person laying in another bed. Once the person also woke up, he recognized, barely who it was.

"L-Laurance?", He asked, a bit confused. He tried to lean over to get a better look but, a pain like daggers shot through his right arm. He looked over to see wires connected to his forearm and a large bandage wrapped around his upper. It took a while for Laurance to get in the head space as well of what was going on. He also saw Blaze and got a bit more calm.

"Blaze, your alright,", He smiled, relieved.

"Of course I'm alright bro,", Blaze chuckled, turning back over to Laurance. "I'm glad you're as well."

Laurance has his mouth open like he was about to say something but, froze. A worried expression came to his face and he asked;

"Where's Garroth?"

Blaze seemed to wrap his head around the issue quickly and became panicked as well. He looked around his bedding looking for some way to contact a nurse or someone to help them clear up some questions. He found it and reached over to it with his left hand and as he laid his finger over the button, a voice said calmly;

"Don't."

The two boys turned the head towards the voice and saw a woman with platinum blonde hair. She had brown trench coat over a black button up and jeans. Her face was menacing yet, elegant. Her fit body and upright posture definitely helped with that. What stood out the most was a tattoo on her left temple that said;

Hope.

"Who are you?", Blaze asked, still holding the button in his hand.

"Elizabeth Washer,", She said. Her voice was smooth yet, powerful. "I'm the leader and commander of S.T.F.. I'm here to ask you two a few questions."

"Can you answer our's first or do we gotta sit through this?", Laurance asked, raising an eyebrow. Blaze wanting to nudge him to stop so badly. Elizabeth sighed and went into her trench coat. She pulled out a notepad and asked; "How did you get the two fragments?"

"What fragments?", I asked. "You gotta be specific, ma'am."

Miss Washer, obviously annoyed, rolled her eyes and reiterated by saying;

"The fragments that gave you the forms of your alter-egos."

"Still don't under-"

"We know your Shadow and Howler."

The two froze and looked at each other. Blaze sighed and answered;

"Mine appeared in my dorm. I don't know why or how but, it just did." Laurance answered; "I found mine in my locker at Scaleswind Prep. I, as well, don't know why."

"Thank you. What's your relation with Protector like?"

"Is he okay?!", Laurance asked, sitting up but, immediately regretting it as his chest felt like someone stabbed him. "I wouldn't do that. Doctors said you have a broken rib. You too, Howler. I wouldn't move with your arm damage."

"Thanks. I figured that out. Now, what happened to Garroth?"

"Answer my questions first."

"Fine. I was good friends with him,", Laurance sighed. "I don't know about Blaze."

"Frankly, I don't know where we stand,", Blaze shrugged.

"Where is your fragment, Shadow?"

"It's Laurance and I don't know. Once I woke up it was gone."

"Probably destroyed then,", Miss Washer sighed. "I see you still have your's Howler."

"Blaze."

"Thank you. Now, ask me any questions."

"Garroth?", The two asked in unison.

Elizabeth looked down, frowning.

"We don't know. We haven't found him or his body." The two boys remained silent. They haven't found him? Why? How? "The observatory ceiling burnt down before we could save Protector. We're hoping for the best but...we don't know."

"Does his family know?", Laurance asked, softly.

"Yes. We did..."

"How long were we out?", Blaze asked.

"About three days."

"How about the civilians?"

"Only small injuries. No deaths.", Miss Washer answered. After silence she said; "Now, boys. You are aware, everyone now knows who you are. The real reason I am here is because the government has asked me to recruit you two into the S.T.F. This way it will keep you two safe and hidden." She looked mainly at Laurance while saying that last bit. "Neither of you are in trouble but, I'm sure you both will have your own...issues when you go home."

"Were never going to have a normal life, are we?"

"Sadly not."

The two frowned and sat there silent.

"What-What about our friends and family?", Laurance asked.

"You'll be able to visit them. As much as you want. Just not at school. You'll also be educated at our facilities so you can graduate, as well as receiving training."

Blaze sighed and said;

"I'm in."

"As well as I,", Laurance added, looking over to his friend, smiling. Miss Washer also smiled and said; "Great. I'll let my assistant know and have him arrange for your living quarters. I'm excited to work with both of you. Now, heal up and I'll pick you both up when you're released."

She got up and as she was about to leave, she stopped. She turned to Blaze and walked over to him. She went into her trench coat again and put something into his hand.

"Keep this safe."

With that, she left through the heave steal door. The two boys were quiet until, they couldn't hear her heels clicking against the tile floor down the hall. Blaze opened his hand and went wide eyed, feeling tears already forming. A cross charm was in his hand...

"Where are you Garroth...?"
