"Ekon," I shouted, hoping he would respond.
Y-Yes...?
"I thought you said I should be in control of this...thing," I say, looking at my ring.
I said in a few hours.
"Ugh!"
I don't see what the big deal is. You kicked some bully butt and saved your friend.
"Yes but-"
No. Garroth you can do this. I know you're nervous but, soon, you'll be great!
"...You really think so?"
I know so.
My phone dinged. I immediately pulled it out of my pocket and saw a text from Aphmau.
Go to the news! It's serious!
What's wrong?
Trust me Garroth, you need to see it.
I rushed to my laptop and went to local news channel. I clicked on the live broadcast and saw what she meant. I saw a whole street, in shambles. Cars flipped, fire hydrants exploded, and the street cracked and damaged. But, the cause was shocking.
A man in a medieval knight suit of black and green. Instead of a helmet, a mask was on his face. Burnette hair was slickly combed back. A green cape was flowing behind him.I'm going to get coverage.
What!? Aph, you're crazy! You'll get hurt!
I'll be fine! Besides, I am looking to be a journalist. Maybe this could be a start!
Aph don't!
I'm sorry Garroth but, I need to. I'll see you tomorrow!
Aphmau Wait!
She didn't respond. Panic started to surge through my body. The villain's voice came to speakers.
"People Of Scaleswind City! You have so foolishly pushed the outcasts away! Now, I will force you all to see, that I am more than just an outcast! I'll show you everyone who was treated like me! The Shadow!"
Kid! You need to get there!
"What!? Are you crazy!?"
Garroth, come on! People need you!
"Ekon, I-"
Let people see who you really are...let them see the Protector.
"The what?"
I don't know. Come up with something better.
I took another glance at the computer screen and sighed. I took a deep breath and asked;
"What should I do?"
Just say suit up.
"...Suit up?"
A bright blue glow came from my necklace. I tightly shut my eyes, fearing that I would go blind. I felt my body tingle and my clothes become heavier. Once I opened my eyes again, I didn't see me in a mirror. I saw someone else.
A man with a blue hood, that almost covered his eyes. Instead of a mask, there was dark blue paint. White and gold covered his body with a silver chest-plate. Tall brown boots were on his feet. A diamond sword was in his hand with brown leather, fingerless gloves."I can't believe it..."
This looked nothing like Superboy. He wore a tight suit and a mask. This was someone completely different.
You look great kid but, now, go!
"Right! Where?"
The window you idiot!
"B-But, that's three stories up!"
Just jump!
"Okay..."
I crawl out my dorm window and swing my legs over the side. I gulped and jumped. I somehow landed on my feet...
"By golly! The youth are getting even crazier Molly!"
An elderly couple seemed shaken by my landing.
"I-I'm sorry!" I ran off. "Where to Ekon?"
Two miles, Libbing street.
"Got it!"
My speed seemed to increase tremendously. I felt my adrenaline rise rapidly. I felt...amazing! I ran through security and made it to the street.
I stopped right on the corner of the street and peaked over to see even more chaos. The 'Shadow' was completely tearing up the street. I couldn't believe it!"What should I do?"
Don't worry. Do what your gut tells you and I'll be here to help!
I sighed and ran out. Police were armed and aimed at the villain. As I took each step, I felt power surge through me. Civilians witnessing from behind fencing, seemed to gasped at me, like I was magnificent.
"Hey," I shouted, grabbing the Shadow's attention. "You do realize this was my favorite street, right? My favorite sandwich shops was back there! Maybe I could get you some toast now!" Confused he walked closer. As he did, I realized he looked to be my age. "I get it, you're an outcast! But, maybe you should go to a counselor!"
"Who the heck are you," He asked.
I gulped, realizing that I didn't know my own name...
"The...Protector!"
"...seriously?"
"Look, it's been a long day! For goodness sake, you are called, The Shadow! What? Are you going to scare us with your emo poetry?"
Kid, just punch him.
"You know what, let's drop it! I have to kick your butt so I can finish my homework!"
Nerd...
Shut it.
"Gladly," He smirked. A large emerald sword was summoned in his hand. "Ready, Protector?"
I charged and smashed my sword against his'. People started to cause commotion, obviously wanting to get a better view...I think. I swing my sword and send him flying into a Volkswagen. He groaned and stood up. I was shocked at what I did. I looked at my hands to see them glowing. GLOWING!
He growled at me and his hands started to spark. His sword glowed at bright green. I swung at me, causing a green light to come towards me, I dodged it immediately. It slammed into a lamp post, making it shaped in a weird way. I heard it creak, signaling it to fall. I eyes widen at who was at the bottom, completely obvious to it.
Aphmau.
Her amber eyes were wide, trying to record everything. I rushed over to her and pushed her out of the way instantly. The post hit the ground with a smash. My breath was quick. I looked down to see her safe in my arms.
"Ma'am, I suggest you get to safety," I say, putting her down. "I don't want you getting hurt."
She nodded, completely shocked to say anything. She slowly rushed off to the crowd. I looked back at my enemy to see him charging at me. Soon, I felt myself being thrown into a store window. I looked to him again to see him ready to kill...
I was prepared to die. His sword was inches away from me...
Until I heard something against clang against it.
