I lay on the top of my bed, thinking. This secret is killing me. All today, people were talking about me and Howler. Each time a rumor came up that was wrong, I wanted to just correct but, I couldn't. The one that really stuck with me was the rumor that him and I was a couple. I decided to check the internet and see what it had to say about the so called, couple of year. I makes m cringe hearing what my classmates are calling it. I open up my laptop and search in google;

The Protector and Howler relationship theory?

I don't know. I'm not a detective. Immediately, I am hit was a span of various pieces of art and theories that I found. What was odd that there are articles about some teen relationship. It was kind of creepy to think adults research this type of topic. Do they go onto some youtube channel like, Sean Dogson and his conspiracies? Anyways, on one of the articles there was a photo of Howler  helping me up and me helping him in a similar way, I guess. But, was the gold of the whole article was that they had a taped video record. I watched the short video and it was when Howler tackle Shadow. What was highlighted was when I said that stupid nickname. Wolfie. Besides other various pieces of evidence, there was nothing else. It started talking about theories of who we were and stuff like that, that I wasn't interested in to be honest.

Ohhh, so your not interested in things besides your boyfriend?

What? Look, how about you drop the whole fantasy of you and that Aphmoo girl and move on to someone who is actually interested in you?

It's Aphmau and like I would ever go for him. He's a huge flirt that takes risks. Besides, it's not like I need a relationship. Especially with what's going.

Geez. Now you really are acting like this is some TV show or something.

What I mean, is that you're still a kid. Live a little! People are going to start to question things if you don't go out and do things.

I do! Look, I'm gonna do my homework then, I'll go out with friends before patrol with Howler.

He snickered as his voice disappeared from my brain for the moment. I went into a different article about Shadow. I see the same things that I heard at school. He goes to the same school that I go to, is a teen, stuff like that. It's a bit weird. A villain that can hide this well. I wonder what his backstory is. What he's really like.

I heard my door open to see Travis walking in.

"Swimming ended early, I see," I say, as he got into our chair in the corner of our room and dropped his backpack on the floor. "What's up?"

"Eh, nothing. Swimming practice ended early because the coach got sick," He says, pulling out his homework. "Laurance was a bit annoyed since he showed up."

"Why? I thought he wanted to join the swim team for fun since Soccer season ended?"

"He get teased a lot. It's just because the others are jealous of our skills," He chuckled. "He's really good actually. You know, he's naturally talented in any sport I think. Like, your smarts."

"Not really. I'm not that smart. Laurance is actually gifted."

"Sure. Anyways, did you get any texts from Aph?"

"No," I say, looking up. "Why? Did something happen?"

"I dunno," He says, grabbing a pencil, starting his math work. "Katelyn did though and she said something about Aaron dumping her."

I shocked. I remembered how sickly in love those two were at lunch today. How could his whole opinion change?

"Why," I asked.

"I think he has an interest in another girl or something. You know us and our minds. We change our opinion quickly."

How could he have a interest in another girl when he had Aphmau? She's kind and smart. What's this other girl like?

"Well, I don't think she'll be at dinner tonight. Katelyn as well."

"I see.."

"Sorry, dude," He says, seeing my drop in mood. "What are you looking at anyways?"

"A Shadow article."

"Oh. Yeah, Dante and I were trying to find some more info for Aph's interest but, we couldn't find anything new."

"Hmm..."

"I should get started on my math. Say something if you need anything."

Just like that, we went silent until, we left to meet the others for dinner. Nothing new besides the lingering topic of the Protector and Howler.
