17: Cafeteria

Lunch at my school is always packed. People just don't see a need to leave the building to get food besides my friends...except today. Since most of us had tests after lunch that day. We were all at a table, helping each other study. Aphmau was showing me some of the things she needed for her history test.

"Why are you asking me to help you again?", I teased.

"Because, you have an A in the class.", She says, playfully punching me. "And, you also took the test this morning."

"Fine. What do you need?"

She showed me her notes and other various things.

"First of all, you don't need to know that many details about the invasion of Poland. Also, you need to know what Hitler and Mussolini had in common.", I say, pointing at the information on her notes. "It was pretty easy."

"Oh, really? Thank you!", She says, smiling brightly.

"Hey! Nerds!"

I rolled my eyes and looked back to see Zenix, Gene, and Sasha strolling up to us like they are the best thing that happened to earth, ever.

"What do you want?", Dante snarled, looking up at the three. "I told you, Gene. This whole phase isn't looking good."

"Who said it was a phase, little brother?", Gene snapped. "Did mom tell you that?"

I saw that Travis was about to tumble him to the ground if Dante wasn't holding him back. Katelyn was ever so slightly clutching her knife for her meatloaf, tightly. Blaze just glared at the three.

"Look, I'm just here to say, watch your back.", Zenix says, crossing his arms. "Especially you. Blondie."

"Why?", Blaze asked.

I felt Aphmau take my hand, gently.

"Let's say,", Zenix chuckled. "It's someone none of you want to mess with."

"You wanna bet?", Katelyn says.

"Heh, whatever. Your funeral.", Sasha spat.

I grumbled and said;

"Didn't I tell you to leave us alone?"

"Did you ever not have such a large mouth, blondie?"

"He has a name you know!", Aphmau shouted. "You three are obviously unwanted and-"

Just then, the window from the side of the Cafeteria smashed opened. All the students ducked under the tables, all panicking. The teachers were reaching for their walkie-talkies to call the security of police. My friends and I duck under our's and Zenix and his crew went under the one next to us. I held Aph close, feeling her shake in fear. I look back and see the others cowering as well. Except Blaze. He was right next to me, narrowing his eyes towards who ever was at the window. Then, I realized something.

"Have any of you guys seen Laurance!?", I shouted over the screams.

They all shook their heads. Dante, Travis, and Katelyn all looked at me desperately, practically begging me to do something.

"Okay...Blaze!", I shouted, getting his attention. "You stay here and make sure everyone stays safe. I'm going to find Laurance."

"What!? Don't you remember what I said-"

"Yes! I do! But, trust me, I'm doing the right thing!"

I bolted out from under the table, hearing my friends shouting for me to come back. I rushed towards the bathroom and head into a stall.

"Ekon! Suit up!"

Soon, I was in my armor and I ran as quick as I could back to the cafeteria. My eyes widen to see who was strutting in.
