AN: It's back! So yeah this is going to be a little weird and there will be time skipping but I really hope you enjoy it.  P.S Mark playing guitar looks weird right? ❤

May 20th 1998

Taylor's P.O.V

"Reading letters from your numerous penpal band boyfriends again?"  Said Elizabeth with a raised brow.

I blushed and rolled my eyes as I put Tom's letter down.
Me and Lizzie (my friend and flatmate) were sitting on the couch in our apartment.

"Not boyfriends Lizzie. Just friends." I replied dryly.

Lizzie laughed.

"Right 'friend's' that's why you arrived in London like a completely heart broken mess." She said with a shake of her auburn hair.

I sighed.

"Well ok, Mark was more than a friend. But Tom is and always will be a friend and only a friend."

She grinned. Her green eyes flashing gleefully.

"Oh goody so he's fair game then? So you'll introduce us when I go across with you won't you? I'm sure he's even cuter in real life than on tv."  She said with a wink.

I laughed.

"You're going to regret that.  You won't be able to handle Tom he's very...American. Plus he has a girlfriend. Jen. You remember she visited in the fall?"

Lizzie laughed.

"Oh and by that I suppose you mean he's loud and obnoxious. Ohhhh of course.  Jen was lovely. I'm looking forward to seeing her again. Fall? I think you mean Autumn Taylor. Honestly must you Yanks continually insist on butchering our beautiful language?"

She said with a teasing smile poking her tongue out at me.

I shook my head and shoved her playfully against the armrest of the couch.

"That is such a stereotype like saying all British people are uptight and reserved...oh wait. I'm sorry didn't you just call your biscuit the other day a cookie?" I teased.

Lizzie shoved me playfully from the other end of the couch with a guilty blush.

"Oi watch it cheeky.  I am not reserved. And that was an accident from spending too much time with you!  I can't wait to go to California  with you. I'm sick of the rain and these boring British Uni boys. I just want to have some fun. And you should too. Come on lets pack!"

I smiled and shook my head.  Lizzie was so excited. We were leaving tomorrow. I was going home for the summer and Lizzie was joining me for 3 weeks of that.  She'd never been to America before and I intended to show her around.  We'd aced all of our exams and were looking forward to a well deserved break.

Lizzie and I had become friends instantly. We were very similar with respect to our taste in books and movies. And the fact neither of us were very interested in boys or hooking up at all. We much preferred hanging out in the pub with our friends.

However where we differed greatly was on music taste. Once I told her everything about Mark she had insisted on listening to their music and trying to catch their music videos on MTV.

She had kept her thoughts to herself.  But once I was over the worst of my sadness she had later admitted to me that she thought their music was just "out of tune immature warbling". And asked me why they obsessed over "Ill fitting clothing and piercings".  I had laughed at her bluntness but promised to try and convert her.
