Ella's P.O.V.

I looked over at Dustin. He was like a statue. His expression was fear. I was as well, but also confused. We had both thought that Jack was dead. Where was the sea monster that Brenden had believed to have murdered Jack? Was it just this silhouette's companion? Or the silhouette itself?

I take Dustin's hand in hopes to relax him. It worked a little, but not enough. We look at the man, now rising to sit up. The silhouette hugged him. Color started to appear on the silhouette. After colors came a better outline. It ended up appearing not as a silhouette, but a mermaid. I was shocked. Mermaids were very rare. They are usually found in the depths of the oceans. Too far down for any one to travel to. Why was this one living in a pond?

Jack pushes her off him. He distorts his face in confusion. Then he sniffs around. He turns towards Dustin and me. He licks his face. He jumps up. He lunges at Dustin. I push Dustin out of the way. Jack looks at me. He goes to bite me. I slap him to stop him. He turns back at me. He growls. I bare my fangs. He tries to attack me. I grab his arm and twisted it. I was now behind him, still holding his arm. I push his arm in between his shoulder blade. I push his face against the wall of the cave.

"Let go of him!" Yelled the mermaid.

She slowly transforms. At first, she was a beautiful mermaid that mortals think they have imagined. But she slowly transformed. She then let out the high pitch shriek. I let go of Jack. I turn back towards the mermaid. She was now a horrifying creature. I have never heard of this. Mermaids, in legends, were the most beautiful of creatures. But maybe legends are not always true.

"Sea monster!" Yelled Dustin.

"I am not a sea monster!" Yelled the mermaid. "For years mortals and werewolves have been coming around here and shouting 'sea monster' 'oh no it's so hidious' 'run'. I'm tired of it! The only one who has ever seen me for something else is Jack! Now you are trying to murder him!" Yelled the mermaid.

"I'm not murdering him! I'm stopping him from murdering you and Dustin!" I yelled.

She stopped shrieking. She looked at me. "What?" She asked with sorrowful eyes.

"Like I said before, he's craving blood. He needs to learn how to hunt and control himself around blood. Also around others. At the moment he's confused and he takes that confusion out in rage. He needs teaching." I explain.

She looks at Jack. He was starting to wake up again. Dustin pins him against the wall like I did. The mermaid calms down back to her other form. She looks at me with fear.

"I will teach him. I have done it before. I can teach another new vampire. I will not leave until he can handle himself." I reassure the mermaid.

"Thank you. How long until he calms down?" She asks.

"Not until he gets some blood into his system. But it has to be blood of a native animal. If it's not something he can feast on regularly, he shall go crazy and deranged. I know it'll cause his emotions to act strangely. He might try to murder you in your sleep. He might rampage on the town." I explain. "I know this all from past experience."

I walk over towards where Dustin was pinning Jack against the wall. I tell him to stop. He lets go. Jack falls to the ground. He goes to bite Dustin. I stab his hand with the rose Dustin gave me earlier.
