Anger swallowed Todoroki whole, leaving only a thin trail behind him. Its intensity practically killed him as he stared at his father, sitting on top of that lavish throne liked he owned the whole kingdom.

It was not his. It was Todoroki's.

"I'm glad to see you've come back to own up to your responsibilities," Endeavor said, flames growing around his body.

"No, I've come to take back my position as King of this kingdom." Todoroki placed his sword back in its scabbard, directing looking at his father."Please respect my decision and step down from the throne, father."

Endeavor scoffed, leaning back against the throne."Its not that simple, son. But if you come back to this kingdom as its rightful prince, I may be more willing to consider your offer in full."

Todoroki clenched his fists, glaring at his father. What was he expecting? Of course his father wouldn't give up the throne so easily.

"You jackass," Bakugo suddenly growled out."I didn't come all this way with your idiot son just to see you be an ass and reject his offer. You're old, just give up and give him the throne."

"Don't misunderstand, I'm not rejecting his offer," Endeavor said to Bakugo. He stood up, brandishing his sword and pointing it down at Todoroki."I will let you have the throne, Shoto, if you defeat me, right now." His sword suddenly erupted into flames, completely swallowing it whole but still holding its form.

Bakugo turned to Todoroki, noticing the pained look on his face. But he didn't look surprised, like he expected this type of thing to happen.

Why hadn't he told him? Bakugo could've...Could've what?

"I accept," Todoroki said back, taking out his sword as well. Instead of fire, ice licked up the sides of the sword as if in defiance of his father.

"You never did like your flame magic, did you, Todoroki?" Endeavor said with a certain sadness.

Todoroki said nothing, moving up the stairs. Bakugo went it follow him but was stopped by Todoroki's hand."Stay here. This is my fight."

"Fine, but if things get bad I'm stepping in. No way am I dying today," Bakugo grumbled back, crossing his arms together and begrudgingly staying where he was. He understood what this fight meant to Todoroki, but it would be painful to watch.

"Are you sure its okay to leave your pet there?" Endeavor sneered."You may need him."

Todoroki reached the top of the stairs."Didn't you tell me before? Not to ever accept outside help."

"A rule you love breaking," Endeavor said back.

"Enough with this banter," Todoroki said, proudly holding his sword to his fathers."Let's begin."

Endeavor didn't wait, sending a quick jab to Todoroki's stomach. The prince deflected it, moving to the side and sending a slash to his arm. Fire and ice collided, the different magics pushing against one another as the metal of their swords clashed with fury.

Todoroki was the first to back off, strategically ducking underneath his fathers sword and pushing upwards to hit his chest. The blow never connected, but Endeavor was pushed back, almost falling over the steep set of stairs next to him.

"You've gotten better, Todoroki," he commented, exchanging blows with him yet again."Time alone did you well. I'm sure you'll make a great King under my further guidance."

Todoroki pushed back, ice expanding around him as frost licked the side of his face."And your arrogance has made you weak."

He sent a risky hit, cutting the side of his face but sending a deep gash into Endeavors arm."You don't know how to please your people," Todoroki breathed."I refuse to be that type of king."

Endeavor growled, flames growing as he pared his sons attack. Pushing the sword away left him wide open and he took the chance, sending a punch straight into his sons face. Todoroki fell back, rolling down a couple steps.

"Whats wrong with self-interest?" Endeavor questioned, moving and kicking Todoroki down a few more stairs."Whats wrong with wanting to be stronger?" He stepped on his sons stomach, pushing his heal down and imbedding his sword into the side of his arm that held his ice magic."I know you also crave such things. You want power. You want strength. Accept it!" He kicked his son again, earning a groan from him.

Then Todoroki chuckled, the sound foreign to everyone in the room. It caused Endeavor to back up, confused by his sons antics."I have accepted it," Todoroki suddenly mumbled, sitting up to glare at his father."How do you think I defeated the Villain Kingdom? How do you think I plan on defeating you?"

Endeavor smiled, a smile that showed pride."Then show me your resolve, Shoto!"

Todoroki attacked him, flames licking body and overtaking his sword. He was fast, so fast that Endeavor didn't even realize he had attacked him until he felt blood dripping from his neck. Todoroki's blade was held against him in a perfect checkmate.

"Your days of ruling are over, father. Give up," Todoroki said, eyes deadly.

Endeavor stared at him, a certain sadness in his eyes. He knew the outcome of this battle the moment Todoroki walked into the room. He knew his son had grown strong, far stronger than him.

True to his mothers words, Endeavor planned to give him the kingdom once he was of age. But, once the time came to back away from the throne, he couldn't. He desired power to much and found that, no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't step down from that beautiful throne.

So, this was his only choice. To have his son battle him, to have his son kill his ever growing ego, he needed to be defeated. He needed leave his life completely.

"That wont do, son," He said, grabbing his sons sword and moving it, right over his heart."You need to finish me properly."

"W-Wha-"

"Do it, Shoto," Endeavor commanded, pressing the sword into his skin.

"No," Todoroki grounded, pulling his sword away."Defeating you doesn't mean I need to kill you."

"Fine," Endeavor said, taking his sword and pointing it towards his stomach."If you wont do it, then I will." He pushed the sword into his skin, groaning as it went deeper into his skin.

"Wait, father!"

"...Remember, Shoto, this isn't love."
