They have been going through the file boxes for over an hour now.
"We need a break" Tristan says. They all agree that they need to take a break. Paris, Honor and Steph stand up and walk out onto the back patio. The guys just sit back staring in shock. They soon get up and follow them.
"You guys ok?" Colin asks as he walks towards Steph, they can all see the tears in their eyes and how they are trying to hold themselves together.
"No we're not" Honor says with the pain lacing her voice.
"Talk to us" Logan says as he watches his sister start to breakdown for a woman that she considers her as a sister.
"I knew a lot of things but some of the stuff I was reading of what happened, how could the judge let this continue" Paris states sadly
"I've seen the bruises from both her mother and Dean but to read a more detailed account of it breaks my heart" Honor says through her tears.
"How come she didn't tell us this?" Steph asks as Colin wraps her up in a hug.
Tristan shakes his head "she doesn't want us to look at her differently and she's told me there's stuff she doesn't remember" he answers softly
"How is possible that she is the most loving, caring, kind, loyal and forgiving person when this has been done to her?" Robert asks
"I have no idea but in the short time I've known her she comes out of it stronger than before and won't let it affect her to much "Logan says with concern and pain on his face.
"Oh, Logan what's wrong?" Honor asks
"I barely know her and I already want to protect her like I do to you and Steph. Granted I've known her for a few days and we didn't start off on the right foot but when we started over I started to feel for her like a sister. You guys were right, she changes you for the better. I'm lucky to have her in my life but I'm scared for her "Logan ranted sadly as few tears streaming down his face.
"I've known Mare for years and she always looks for the good in people that's one thing that hasn't changed and I don't think it ever will" Tristan says
"Look at Tristan, Rory and I now. We both made her life hell when she first started Chilton and she still wanted to help us out" Paris says laughing remembering the early days of their acquaintance.
"True she saved me from military school and I now have a better relationship with my parents thanks to her" Tristan says.
"Logan you've seen mom and dad, they've changed because of her same with grandad. She's not jaded and she tells you how it is. I'll never forget grandads face when she first put Mitchum in his place" Honor says as she and josh laugh hysterically at the memory.
"What are you talking about?" Logan asks
"Well I invited Rory over for dinner with Josh and I to our parent's house. Well during drinks Dad started a debate with her and let's just say she out debated him. Grandad was amused the whole time. Dad was in shock and mom laughed that someone could outwit the great Mitchum "Honor said
"Since then they have lunch every other week and they have welcomed her as another daughter/granddaughter. You do know Shira has a room for her at the mansion, right? "Josh adds
"Your kidding me" Logan says in utter shock
"She has a room at my dad's house too" Colin's says with a smile
"Same here at my parents an grandads place" Tristan states
"Same here" Paris and Steph say at the same time. Logan was shocked beyond belief he couldn't believe this but with the more time he spends with her the more he believes it.
"Hey guys dinners ready. Rory's setting the table "Finn says and we all wash up for dinner and walk into the dinning room.
"It smells amazing" Josh says and they all agree.
"We're having baked macaroni and cheese, ham and all the fixings" Rory tells them as she stands up with a glass of wine in hand.
"To friends, new and old and who we really are, family to each other. To all of you for being a part of my family" Rory says happily.
" Hear, Hear "They all say. They enjoy dinner and small talk I'm happy that after what they had read they're not treating me any differently. I understand their hurt and pain for me and their protectiveness for me. I feel bad for not sharing all this with them sooner but it's better late than never I guess. After dinner we cleaned up, started a fire in the fireplace and just talked about the upcoming school year, classes, the event shopping and Logan asking about the room I have at his parent's house. I told him it was true and that they even built in bookshelves and made a little library for me. We all laughed at Logan's shocked expression of what his family have done for me and how much they've changed.
Next month I'll be legally 21 then the holidays will be here and soon enough the event to announce me as the Hayden and Gilmore heiress. I'm excited and scared at the same time. ‪Around midnight we go to bed, tomorrow after lunch we are heading back to Yale for the start of the new school year. A lot will change this year once it is announced that I am a double heiress, the pain I went through all will know, I'm dating a wonderful man named Finn and I live with my family near school. I know I will have battles along the way in the form of mom and Dean. I've tried talking to Lindsay lately but she's in denial about it all. I talked to Dad while I was cooking dinner and told him about what happened and what I am planning to do. He told me he has some records that he'll drop off at the house, I didn't know he had records. He told me it's my missing time, the times I don't remember a thing. How many can there be if it's a whole box. I decide that Finn and I will look at it before I give it to the others to see. Finn knows me inside and out by now and I never keep anything from him and he does the same with me. What I don't know is that tomorrow will change everything about my relationship with Lorelei. The missing memories will bring back memories that were forgotten forever. The pain and everything else that might come tumbling down with their return. I only hope that I can remember what I've forgotten, and it doesn't change my life too much. This box might just hold the key to gaining my memory of what used to be.‬
