Town meeting

I woke early the next morning excited to share my news with the town. I decided to make breakfast for everyone. I made French toast, bacon, sausage, eggs and toast. I was busy prepping the French toast when my cell rang.

" Hello" I answer as I put the phone on speaker while I continue to prep breakfast.

"Rory I have something to tell you" the man replied.

"What is it grandpa?" I ask concerned as to why he is calling me so early.

"The date has been set for Dean's trial" strobe answers me.

"Ok when is it?" I ask him

"It'll be in three weeks" Strobe tells me and I remain silent shocked by how soon it will be.

"There's something else sweetie." Strobe says with concern in his voice

"What is it?" I ask with fear in my voice.

"They are going to use your previous police reports, pictures and evidence from before the last assault" Strobe says sadly

"Will I have to testify?" I ask as the tears start streaming down my cheeks

"Yes sweetie you do" Strobe says sadly

"Ok, I'll talk to you later grandpa, love you bye" I say still crying. A few minutes later I am still crying while making breakfast when Tristan walks in

"Mare what's wrong?" Tristan asks concerned

"The trial has been set for Dean and I will have to testify about everything" I say trying to control the tears that won't stop falling. Tristan wraps his arms around me and holds me while rubbing my back and whispering to me when the rest of the group walks in.

" Morning gu...." Steph started to say

"What's wrong love?" Finn asks concerned

"Is she ok?" Colin asks concerned as well. Tristan only says two words.

"Court, testify" Finn moves to the love of his life and takes her into his arms.

"When is it?" Paris asks

"Do you have to testify?" Robert asks

"It's in 3 weeks and yes about everything that has happened" I answer them

"Even when he ....." Tristan say and he is cut off.

"When he tried what?" Logan asks confused. I just shake my head and went about making breakfast after a few minutes of silence I answer the question

"He tried to drug me" I state flatly

"What? When?" Logan asks

"It was before the end of freshman year we were at a birthday party and someone noticed Dean and said he slipped something in her drink" Colin tells him

"He wanted her alone and away from us" Finn adds angrily

"This guy is nuts" Logan says and they all agree.

"Breakfast is done" I say. They spent the morning talking and decided on a wedding date once school was over on the 18th so they decided to marry on May 22nd. They walked around the town for a while and ate lunch at Luke's and then went home to relax until it was time for the town meeting. On the way to the meeting we ran into Jackson, Sookie, April, Luke and Mia and told them about the court date and they all said they would be there. As we walked into Miss Patty's I saw mom and Dean sitting together. The meeting was started a few minutes later.

"Now our town princess has something she wants to say Rory" Taylor says sweetly. We walk to the front and I just blurt out our announcement.

"Finn and I are engaged an we're getting married on May 22nd"
I say happily as Finn put his arm around my waist. That's when all hell broke loose.

"Like hell you are" Lorelei yells angrily

"We belong together I love you" Dean says hopeful. I have had enough and that's when I cracked.

"That's it this is enough I would never get back together with you. I don't love you hell I don't even like you, your abusive, possessive, controlling and to put the cherry on the cake mom only wants me to get back with you so she can continue to hide her affair with you" I rant angrily letting it all flow out. There were a few gasps but what happened next would stun the entire town. Lorelei sat with a guilty look and then she got up and went to hit me but Miss Patty grabbed her before her hand can land on me.

"You better not lay a hand on her" Miss Patty says angrily shoving her hand back towards Lorelai.

"Is this true dean?" His parents ask. Finn grabs my hand and we were left but before I walked out I turned around.

"I'll see you in court Dean" I say with distaste. We left an ordered massive amount of food to gorge on back at the house. The town was happy for their princess but shocked about how Lorelei was about to hit Rory. Dean's parents finally learned the truth about what he did to Rory and Lindsay and they would go to court to support Rory. They felt terrible that their son had hurt her so badly. They wanted Rory's forgiveness, but she told them that they did need to be forgiven because they did nothing wrong. The group knew that the upcoming weeks were going to be hard for her and they we're going to do anything she needed or wanted. To testify and love through the pain would tear anyone apart.
