Akurei's green eyes slowly opened as the first thing she saw was the white ceiling. She seemed to be lying in someone's bed.
"You're awake." Sasuke's voice stated and Akurei sat up, looking over at the Uchiha sitting by the wall. The room was dim and cast shadows over his face.
"Yes. Where's Shi-nii." She questioned in a monotone voice, making him click his tongue.
"Don't know. Why?" He asked, snapping his onyx eyes up and observing the girl.
"He's here." She simply replied and got up from the bed, walking out of his room.
Sasuke's apartment was dark and his curtains were always closed, the area relatively clean and neat.
"Thanks. I'll be back-" Akurei said as she walked out but Sasuke grabbed her wrist.
"No. I'm going too." He frowned and she shrugged.
"Kay. Hurry up." Akurei beckoned and Sasuke shut the door, following after the now sprinting girl.
The young ANBU quickly caught scent of her dad. And it was back at their place.
"Hurry hurry." She hissed at the Uchiha and sprinted faster. Something was wrong. Kakashi's chakra flow was irregular.
They ran through the house and Akurei burst through the door with Sasuke close."Huh? Why is Kakashi sleeping? And why the jounins all gathered here?" Sasuke asked and Akurei ran to Kakashi's side.
"Genjutsu." She whispered and Kurenai quietly nodded.
She leaned down touched foreheads with her dad, shutting her eyes closed.
"Where is he now?" Akurei turned to Kurenai and she looked away.
"They got away." She replied and she stood up when someone else burst through the door.
"Is it true that Itachi is back? And that he's after Akurei and Naruto?" A jounin shouted and Gai shook his head in annoyance.
Sasuke's eyes hardened and his face twisted in anger before sprinting out, resulting in Akurei too.
"Tell Shi-nii I love him." She whispered to Gai and ran off.
Akurei caught up to Sasuke and ran beside him.
"Ichiraku Ramen." She told him and he veered to the side. Many villagers jumped out of the way and Sasuke skidded as he burst into the ramen shop.
"Old man! Naruto usually comes here to eat lunch. Do you know where he went after that?" Sasuke shouted and Teuchi.
"Ah Naruto. Let's see. I'm sure Jiraiya-san came and ate ramen with him. He said where he was going uh, he said he was going to leave town a bit. Take the cattle road downtown to the hotel town or something. Jiraiya-san took him along when he left." Teuchi told them.
"Jiraiya's back?" Akurei commented and Teuchi nodded.
"Easily spotted. A big white haired man." He replied and they nodded before sprinting back out.
"This way." She nudged Sasuke and she sprinted quicker, leading the way.
As they reached the town, Akurei wasted no time to bound between roofs to get to Naruto's immense chakra. She quickly found the hotel and swung in by a window, shattering it and hearing the glass twinkle. Akurei ignored treating her cuts and pulled Sasuke down, the room they broke into luckily empty.
As they sprinted across the corridors, Sasuke's head was bowed as he grit his teeth in the memory of the massacre.
'He's remembering that day... well, he's not the only one.' Akurei glanced back and jumped down a floor, finally arriving at their destination.
