The canine-hybrid ran through the forest at a rather quickened pace with the plump rabbit swinging from side to side in his mouth as his olive green-hued eyes were fixed on the path before him that would take Henry back to the warm cabin that he called his home. In the back of his mind, he knew that he was supposed to be out here collecting firewood for all his future fires that he was going to make to keep the cabin all toasty and cozy for them through the winter, but right now, the raven-furred wolf was more determined to present the brown hare to his mate while it was still fresh and delicious. Nothing was worse than cold, tough meat that was put out for too long. He had his own experiences with eating bad sources of food when he did not eat them after a few days or even a week. It was something that he had learned through years of experience when it came to hunting in the wild and it had served him very well in the recent months when it came to the time to hunt once more and prepare things to be eaten. He shook his head, knowing that he was thinking about this too much than what was really needed. The raven-haired male just wanted, no, needed to see his mate. He couldn't even explain why, but he just missed him and wanted to be around him. Henry growled and went forward at a faster pace through the forest, leaping over rocks and logs with a huff as he still kept the rabbit firmly locked in his jaws, determined to bring it to Beck safely, so that he could actually have a good meal to eat this morning. Throughout it all, however, the canine couldn't help but think back to the things that the damned feline said and it made a fire burning deep in his chest out of anger. Nobody talked about his mate like that, not even some stupid voice in his head. He couldn't believe the nerve of that guy, saying that he could just go around and do whatever he wished without any consequences because he was the 'alpha' or whatever. It was ridiculous and the hellhound was more than glad that he was gone, for now, at least. He had the feeling that Conscience would be back later to tease and mock him more in order to get him to snap or something. Henry would be ready to face him head on and he was certain about that right now. However, he did not wish to worry about that. At this moment, all he wanted to do was focus on Beck and only Beck. The raven-haired male had been thinking about himself too much lately and it was true that this needed to change, before it was too late and it ruined their strong bond that they had always had. His love for the taller hybrid was something that could not be simply described and put into words. Henry knew that he often did not show it very well when he was stubborn or mad, but he really did love him - more than anyone else in this entire world and there was nothing that could change his mind about it. His paws were starting to become a little numb from brushing over the cold grass blades underneath him as he continued to run more and more without hesitation or break whatsoever. The cold weather would always get to him, even if it took awhile to do so. As stated before, however, today was a bit better than the previous days when it came to temperature. The canine-hybrid wondered if they would experience snow while on their honeymoon, but he could only shiver at this thought.
Soon enough, Henry could see the familiar wooden cabin in the distance through the trees and he broke into a full sprint towards it now, panting slightly as his paws seemed to glide over the grass now like it was nothing. There were small times when he wished that Beck and he could live here for the rest of their lives and just be happy on their own. The mere thought of that made his tail swish back and forth behind him happily, imagining them just growing older together in this cabin as the years passed them by. Despite this, though, he knew that they belonged back at the manor with everyone else, aiding Rebecca with everything. They were a family through and through as it always had been. After everything that has happened, perhaps it would be best that they all stayed together anyway. It would only stress others out, constantly wondering if someone was okay and whatnot, but that was easily fixed. Henry just needed to stop thinking about it so much and focus on the present, as he often told himself even recent days. With the hare in his mouth, the large wolf padded up to the cabin with his ears twitching silently as he looked around for a moment as he went over to one of the few glass windows on the side of the cabin. He heaved himself up and peered through the window, seeing Beck sitting on the couch contently while looking at what appeared to be Henry's phone, which made a pang of worry go through him. There were things on that phone that his mate should not know about and he shook his head, just hoping that it wasn't that case. With closer inspection though, he could see a video playing on the screen and Henry soon realized that Beck was simply watching more Game Grumps episodes in his spare time while awaiting the canine's return from the woods. It made him smile and wag his tail, knowing that the taller male liked it as much as he did when it came to these YouTubers. He knew that it would be best not to disturb, but he was too eager to show Beck what he caught. He gave a light whimper and tapped his paw on the window, making sure to use his claws to make a loud enough sound so that he could be now heard. The brown-haired male looked up from the device, looking around for several seconds in confusion until his gaze landed on Henry at the window, which made him smile and give a little wave. Henry lifted his muzzle and showed the plump rabbit in his jaws, giving a little-muffled bark, which made the older male heave himself from the couch, setting down the phone on the table before walking over to the front door and opening it. The hellhound went down from the window and went over to him with a little bound in his step, dropping the hare in front of his mate. "I was able to catch a rabbit while out in the woods today. It's very warm and still fresh from the hunt." Henry said with pride, "Since it will probably be the last rabbit I'll be able to catch before winter, I thought I would offer it to my beloved mate as a loving gift to show my love." The older male smiled warmly at his mate's offering that was now before him. "Well, if it is my mate, then I shall accept it without any hesitation. Thank you, Henry." He purred as he shifted into his mountain lion form and licked the canine's forehead, which made Henry's tail wag behind him as his heart pounded within his chest out of the simplest touch.
"Were you able to find any firewood?" Beck asked him as he laid down and began to tear into the hare, licking his muzzle at the delicious taste as his long tail swished behind him along the ground with a certain sense of content and happiness. The raven-furred wolf looked off to the side with a slight whine coming from him. "No, I didn't and I'm really sorry. I do promise to go back out after you finish the hare and I won't come back until I find some." He said, which made the mountain lion lift his head from the meal to look at his mate. "Hey now, there is nothing to be sorry about. Don't worry about it." Beck said with a slight smile, "You've been working yourself too hard these past couple days, Henry, can you please just let me head out this time and find the firewood? I promise to be back as soon as possible. Please, you have to trust me." The canine-hybrid didn't like the idea of him going out there on his own, not one bit, but there needed to be trust between them and Henry knew that his mate had a feeling that he did not trust him - which was not true. He bowed his head and gave a low, defeated sigh as he peered at Beck now with his olive green-hued eyes. "Fine, but for my sake, please be careful." He said, "If you get hurt out there, I swear.." Beck shook his head with a purr. "I'll be fine, I promise you. I won't be gone long either and then we can maybe watch some more episodes of Game Grumps by the fire. They uploaded the next episode of their next playthrough 'Voyeur' and so far, it's really good." Henry nodded to this, still feeling rather uneasy about all of this in general and the feline noticed this, shifting up into a sitting position and nuzzling his mate with a loving purr. "I'll be okay, Henry, please don't worry. You deserve to have a little rest after all the hard work you've done." Beck insisted, looking the canine in the eyes to make sure that he wouldn't just be worrying the entire time. Henry nodded once again in silence before giving the mountain lion a lick on his neck. "Okay, I believe you." He simply said in a hushed tone as the feline went back to eating the hare before it got too cold. "You can head inside and rest, I got this covered." He mentioned after a few bites, giving him yet another reassuring smile. The canine-hybrid nodded again, for the third time, as he stood up and brushed against his beloved mate before heading inside the warm cabin without saying another word. Trust was a very important thing when it came to relationships and Henry had to show Beck that he trusted him. He was an adult, older than him even, so he should have no troubles out there. Beck was not even hunting either, so there was no risk of him getting hurt by prey or anything while simply looking for firewood. It was getting to be late afternoon by now, so hopefully, the mountain lion would return before nightfall since the hellhound knew how dangerous it got to be in those woods when the sun went down. All the predators and such else would be prowling around at that hour. Beck was a predator as well, but that did not mean anything to the creatures of the night. He shook his head vigorously, abruptly forcing himself to think about something else and just be calm. Now that his mind was focusing on others things, Henry knew now that it would be appropriate to talk to his mate about everything that he had been hiding about the whole dom thing and much else. It needed to be nice though and the hellhound was sure that he could manage to make everything worthwhile. He now had time to set up everything for it anyways.
