Everlene raced through the school yard, attempting to get to the bike rack before wyatt could catch up to her.

however she knew she would fail, she always did, but it didn't hurt to try.

today wasn't much different, she had made it before he could even get close, her friend, however did not.

alison was never where she needed to be, when she needed to be, but to be fair, neither was everlene.

"hey short stuff" wyatt taunted Everlene, you see, he did this everyday, he liked to pick on ev and ali and so did his little gang of friends.

"hello wyatt." she replied, in the corner of her eye she could see Ali pivoting her feet making a u-turn back into the main hallway after noticing wyatt.

"oh no you don't, Ali." by now Everlene had removed her blue bike from the rack and began advancing towards Ali.

"oh no you don't, Everlene." wyatt said before pulling the strap on her backpack, causing her to come to a stop, alison had already disappeared into the main hall.

"now where do you think you're going?" he said, with that same smug look on his smug face.

"home. asshat." ev gritted her teeth together, pulling out her phone to text ali.

"is that so?" sophia, wyatt's best friend, stepped up beside him, soon they were both advancing towards her.

everlene, as usual stayed quiet, she knew if she spoke she would choke on her words, like she always did. this time, however, she seemed to work up enough courage to, she would have if it wasn't for her pesky brother.

"excuse me." everlene's brother, tom, interrupted the situation.

"what is going on here?" he asked as ev smirked, though she hated when her brother got all protective she was also thankful because she knew wyatt was beyond scared of him.

the two of them stayed silent, though sophia looked as though she wanted to say something.

"hmmm? that's what i thought. now scram." he ordered as the frightened pair scurried away.

"hey kid, i thought i told you to stay away from them." tom spoke, his british accent still very prominent, while ev's had faded away.

"that's what i was trying to do." ev spoke, annoyed, she knew she could fight her own battles, though when it came down to it she would choke on her own words, she was never good at public speaking either.

"yeah, yeah. see you at home, kiddo." tom ruffled everlene's hair before walking off you his friends.

it wasn't until now that alison had come out of her hiding spot to grab her bike.

"heyyyy ev" alison said acting as if she didn't just leave ev alone.

"whatever let's just go home." ev spoke rolling her eyes a bit at her friend before hopping on her bike and riding home.
