no one was quite sure of why wyatt hated everlene so much, not even everlene.

but i can tell you he was quite annoyed by her perfection.

to him she had a stupidly perfect face and body, and her hair suited her perfectly, the way the dark brown locks cascaded over her shoulder stopping just above her collar bone, framing her face in just the right way and her eyes matched it exactly.

not that he liked her. he hated her. she was too perfect.

perfect family. perfect grades. perfect at everything she did and that pissed him off.

he would never admit this out loud though.

but i can tell you one thing that made his hatred grow for her that much more was everything seemed like a competition that he was barely winning.

they both tried out for soccer, ev made the team and he didn't, his parents scolded him for not getting in.

he took his anger out on her and got her kicked off the team with a simple prank that he blamed on her.

next was science, the teacher admired everlene's work and trusted her in the lab, this was all ruined when wyatt came in and made a mini explosion that blew up in her face causing her to get detention for a week and time off the lab.

he was merely in her shadow for everything, that wasn't her fault though, that didn't stop him from taking his anger out on her.

then the school newspaper team came a long, final something he was good at, though his parents were more the jock type.

they both made it in, and wyatt even got team captain.

it was the only thing he had over her.

but that was about to change today.

everlene walked into the dark room, holding a stack of books all wrapped up in her dainty arms close to her chest.

she placed everything down and began setting up, soon developing her photos for her photography project when she heard the sound of a door creaking followed by heavy footsteps and a undeniably recognisable yawn.

the yawn belonged to none other than wyatt oleff himself who had gotten little to no sleep last night, to focused on his pitch for the front cover article for the next day.

he hadn't even noticed the petite girl in the room until he heard the clearing of her throat, followed by a few miscellaneous coughs.

"oh hey hollandaise." wyatt said with half closed eyes, using the stupid nickname he gave her in the third grade when she beat him in the spelling b.

"hello olaf." she shifted her weight, moving back and forth from her left foot to her right foot, unclipping a photo and putting up a new one.

"ready for the pitch today?" everlene panicked at his words, she had completely forgot about this silly debate since ali had distracted her.

"as i'll ever be" she smiled, he opened his mouth to say something but bit his tongue as soon as millie bobby brown and her boyfriend, jacob, stubbled into the room together, too caught up in each other to notice the presence of other people in the room.

"that's my que to leave." ev said with a dry cough, gathering her things and leaving heading towards the library, so she could scrap up a decent pitch.
