Taylor
Rock was not speaking to me and it was driving me insane. My husband and I do not argue. We pretty much agreed on everything which made me decide to re-evaluate my current situation.. I was watching our favorite television show Survivor alone in the living room. I had went to the bedroom to join him and he had left me to come in the living room. Of course I followed him to the living room when he relocated back to the bedroom. It takes me awhile to catch hints from him because Rock is not very verbal. He says how he feels and then he is done, there is no further discussion which drives me mad because I feel like he is the only one entitled to an opinion in these situations. The kids where eating a light snack in their rooms and I felt very alone. I admit that I did not give Joy much of a chance. I’m typically not a judgmental person so I’m not sure what it is or was about her that made me distrust her. I think I was stuck on the fact that she slept with her best friend’s husband. Who does that? If you’re going to cheat, cheat but it does not have to be so messy. It was evident Rock was taking a stand and if I wanted peace in my household I was going to have to make amends, so I knew they were in town for a few days.I went into the room and picked up his cellular off the nightstand. He was getting ready to leave the room again punk! He stopped though to watch me scroll through his phone. He always gave me a stupid look when I done this, and I looked back at him like say something I dare you. I came to Khalil’s number and called him. “Hi Khalil it’s me Taylor. Is Joy available” I asked. He sounded surprised but he handed her the phone.
“Hello” she said.
“Joy how are you it’s me Taylor” I said.
“Fine” she responded.
“So look we got off to a pretty Rocky start and I’m sorry about that. I didn’t really give you a fair chance. I was wondering if you would like to meat me at Logan’s tonight for a few drinks. Just us girls. Maybe we can start over and give this friendship a real try.” I wasn’t begging her ass if she said no I was done with it.
“Sure I’d love to. What time, and where is it located?” She said. I was a little surprised she agreed so quickly but I was happy.
“I will text you the address see you shortly” I said.
“Great!” She said then hung up the phone. I sat his phone down then gave him no further eye contact. I went in the bathroom and showered, done my hair and slid in some jeans and a tea short with my Nike. I didn’t even acknowledge him when I came out the bathroom. I simply applied my makeup and perfume and left the house. She was already waiting when I pulled up. Today she wore healed brown boots with a beige sweater dress. She had on lip gloss with no makeup and she had pulled her mass of curls up into a bun. Looking at her fitted dress I knew that I felt some way about her the first time we met because now that I saw her with her hair pulled back I realized she was pretty. She had the dreamiest eyes, they were almond shaped and full. I thought of Brandy the singer. “Are your lashes natural” I asked?
“Yes they are, but I have mascara on today” she said. I nodded at her, pretty. We found a booth towards the back and I immediately started to chow down on the nuts. She ordered ford and drink.
“Thanks for the invitation. I needed to get out of that room” she said.
“Yea I needed to get out the house. Rock is in a mood and I don’t like being around him when he shuts down.” I said to her. She nodded but didn’t ask any further questions. Okay not much for conversation I thought to myself.
“So you and Rock have been together for how long” she asked. Okay the dead has arisen.
“We met in college” I said.
“Oh I met Marcus in college to” she said sipping on her drink that the waiter had placed in front of her.
“Marcus was your husband” I asked?
