I push the brush through my hair for the billionth time. Alright so maybe I was over exaggerating just a little but I had been brushing my hair for a while. My mom glides into my room just as I sit the brush down with a smile on her face.
“Do I really have to go?” I question pulling my best puppy dog eyes.
“Yes, and don’t give me that doggy face. I know Demetrius has made some mistakes but it has been almost a week. Don’t you think he deserves forgiveness?” She asks sitting next to me on my bed.
Yes I hadn’t seen Demetrius in a whole week and I had little parties every day I didn’t see him. The only bad thing was that he kept sending me little gifts. Flowers, chocolates, cookies and many other things and every time I went to go throw something away my mom would stop me.
Even though, he had banned my brother and their son, both her and my dad forgave him. I on the other hand was planning a way for revenge but my plans always had some huge block that I couldn’t get around. Like I had this great idea to send Demetrius a little gift with a little extra surprise and by surprise I mean a rattle snake. I would send it anonymously and could order it online. Only problem is mail to Demetrius doesn’t go straight to him. So in the end they would find the snake and I would lose.
Also I couldn’t seem to find a place that sends rattle snakes in gift baskets.
“Aubrey, are even listening to me?” My mom asks as she grabs my hair to pin it up.
“Not one single bit…” I mumble slouching lower on my bed.
“I was saying that maybe you could enjoy the night if you acutely try to.” I scoff.
“Yeah, because going on a date with Demetrius is something I would enjoy.”
You heard it here first folks; I am being forced on my first date. Sounds like fun right?
“Please give him a chance Aubrey, he is a great guy.”
“A great guy wouldn’t banish my brother for telling the truth.” I grumble.
“Think of that your father still wants to talk to you.” I frown.
I have been doing a great job of avoiding my father all week. Now that the weekend has come again I will be home more often than not.
“Now get dress Demetrius said wear whatever you like. If you try to walk out of this house looking like a hobo I will put you in a dress.”
“Alright, no homeless looks got it.” My mom laughs and walks out of my room.
Opening my closet I pull out my light pink sweater that say I'm really a unicorn and some blue ripped skinny jeans. I don’t think this classifies as homeless. Just in case I will wait until the very last minute until I show my mom.
As I am pulling my clothes I hear the doorbell ring. Great, time for the disaster date…
“Aubrey, Demetrius is here come on down already.”
I slide on my white converse all stars and slid my iPod into my back pocket.
“Coming!” I shout as I jog down the stairs.
I lean on the banister and watch my father, mother and Demetrius talk. My mom sees me first and frowns. Demetrius turns around and his green eyes dilate.
“You look amazing Aubrey.” He says with a smile showing off his dimples and pearly whites. He was dressed just as casual as I was. He has on a black v neck with blue jeans and sneakers. Yup aren’t we all dressed so classy.
“You don’t look so bad yourself dog.” I pat him on his shoulder and make my way for the front door. “I will be waiting in the car.”
“Aubrey, he brought you red and white roses.” My mom says with a stern look.
