Amelia's POV
"How about this," Mommy says, holding up a white dress. "With this?" She holds up a jean vest. I nod and she helps me undress.
"Why do I have to dress all fancy?" I ask, while mom slips the dress over my head.
"Because, precious, Chris and Mommy had a discussion early this morning and we've decided to make Leah your sister." Mommy explains to me.
"So, she's not going away?" I ask. Mommy shakes her head.
"Nope, not at all. You guys are going to grow up together and be the best of friends." Mommy says, smiling at me. "Black flats or white flats?" I ask.
"Black." I say. She grabs them and helps me put them on. "Alright babe, go down by Chris. I believe he made waffles. So, go have some breakfast while I get Leah dressed." Mommy says. I nod, smiling, and run to the dining room. As I get closer, the scent of homemade waffles fills my nose.
"Hey there Amelia." Chris says, glancing up from the waffle maker. He's wearing an apron covered in flour.
"Hi." I say, walking closer. "Sit down and I'll get you some." Chris says, putting a waffle on a plate. I obey and sit down next to Leah at the table.
"Are they good?" I ask her, noticing her waffle almost completely gone. She looks up from her plate, smiling, and nods.
"They're really good." She says after swallowing. Chris comes over by me, setting down the waffle.
"Do you want syrup?" He asks. I nod and he walks back into the kitchen.
...
"Okay, Mommy and Chris are going to drop you guys off at Auntie Chyler's and we'll pick you up later today." Mom says, helping Leah put on her jacket. I nod, zipping up my coat. It's been getting colder in Vancouver, which is where Mom has to work, since it's now near the end of September. Chris says Mommy's birthday is soon and we should give her a homemade gift. He's been looking online for things to make, but he needs to get Mommy out of the house for us to do them.
"Alright guys, let's go." Mom says, walking towards the door. We both follow her to the garage and we get into the car and Chris starts driving to Auntie Chyler's house.
After a few minutes of driving, we finally make it to her house. Leah and I get out of the car. We all walk up to Chyler's door and Mom rings her doorbell. We stand there waiting until she answers. She answers with a smile on her face.
"Auntie Chyler!" I yell, running up to her. I hug her legs since I'm not tall enough to properly hug her. She hugs me back before talking to Mom.
"She's adorable." She says, referring to Leah. Leah smile brightly at the complement.
"Come in." Auntie Chyler says, backing up into her house. We all follow her in. Leah and I take out shoes off before being greeted by Chyler's youngest, Taelyn.
"Hi Amelia!" She says, giving me a hug. "Who's this?" She asks, turning to Leah.
"This is Leah." I say, smiling. Taelyn, Anniston, and Noah haven't had a proper introduction to Leah.
"Where Noah and Anniston?" I ask, peering behind Taelyn to see if I can see them.
"They're in their rooms. Noah is working on homework and Anniston is watching videos on her laptop." Taelyn explains.
"Amy, Leah be good. We'll be back later today." Mom say from the door.
"We will. Bye Mom." I say, waving to her. She waves back before her nod Chris walk out the door. Chyler shuts the door before walking over to us. She kneels down in front of Leah before introducing herself.
"Hi Leah. I'm Chyler." Chyler says, extending her hand. Leah shakes it before Chyler stands back up.
..."Mommy!" I yell, running to her.
"Hey baby." She says, picking me up. "So, how'd it go?" Chyler asks coming from the kitchen.
"It went great." Mom says. She has an evident smile on her face, the only one I ever she when's she truly happy.
"So, Leah is my sister?" I ask her.
"Yes Amy. Leah is officially your sister." Mom says.
