Amelia

Chapter 21

It was early the next morning when Melissa awoke to the sound of silent giggles. She smiled, hearing the beautiful sound of her daughters' laughter. She rose from her bed and began walking downstairs. She follows the sound of giggles before reaching the living room. She peers in to see Amelia and Leah playing with her dogs. Chris shifting his focus from the tv and then back to the girls.

"No, Farley." Amelia laughs, whipping her face from Farley's 'kiss'. Melissa heart almost fluttered out of her chest at seeing the girls so happy. Amelia peers up the door way and, if even possible, her face lights up even more.

"Mommy!" The young girl yells, running up to her mother excitedly. She wraps her arms around her Melissa legs before Melissa picks her up. She kisses Amelia's cheek before going into the living room. Leah stands up from petting Farley and walks over to Melissa. She give her a hug while Melissa walks over to the couch sitting down.

"What are we going to do today?" Leah asks after successfully making it on the couch.

"I'm not sure," Melissa replies. "What do you want to do?" Leah shrugs looking up at the tv. Unlike Leah, Amelia was thinking about what she wanted to do. It was getting cold outside so they really couldn't do anything outdoors without wearing a thick jacket.

"Can we go to the indoor pool?" Amelia asked, looking at both her parents. Melissa and Chris looked at each other, mentally deciding if that was a good idea. Chris shrugged, signally he thought it was a good idea.

"Alright, we can do that." Melissa says. Amelia felt a wave of excitement rush through her. They haven't been able to many things as a family since Melissa is on set almost everyday.

Melissa finished putting Amelia's life jacket on. Right when it clipped shut, she ran into the water joining Leah. Melissa walks into the water holding Chris's hand. Melissa looks up almost every minute just to make sure the girls are having fun. They've spent almost the entire time on the splash pad. They both laughed as Leah sprayed Amelia with some water gun.

A huge smile spread across Melissa's face seeing all of her children having so much fun. She never wanted to leave. She hadn't seen Amelia nor Leah so happy in forever. Every part of their laughter was music to Melissa's ears.

"Mommy, look." Amelia yells to her mother. Melissa looks at the young girl. Amelia lifts her foot and water comes spraying out of the floor. Amelia and Leah laugh and Melissa smiles even more.

"Mommy! Can I go down the slide with you?" Amelia asks excitedly, pointing to the small slide.

"Sure, c'mon." Melissa agrees. She quickly places a kiss on Chris's cheek before following Amelia to the slide. They get to the top and Melissa places Amelia on her lap. She pushes off and Amelia's screams rattle through Melissa ears.

"Again, again!" Amelia begs her mother. Melissa caves in and goes with Amelia. They repeat this several more times until Leah comes over complaining about hungry she is.

"Are you hungry, Amy?" Melissa asks. Amelia nods before running up to Chris.

A dinging sound flows through out the halls of the house. "I'll get it." Melissa says, jogging to the door. She opens it to see a middle aged woman with brown hair. The woman had blue eyes and ever so clear skin.

"Hello, who are you?" Melissa asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Kimmy Larson. I'm Amelia's aunt." The woman, Kimmy, says with a smirk on her face. "I'm here to discuss gaining full custody of Amelia."
