It's been a week since I went to the hospital. After the social workers granted me custody of Amelia, I started visiting on a daily basis. I've been trying to get to know her, which at first was pretty difficult since she hated to talk to anyone.

"Hi, Amelia," I say as I walk into her hospital room. She looks up at me and smiles.

"Are you ready to come home?" I ask. She looks at me with a confused expression. "I've talked to some people and you can come live with me," I say smiling.

"Forever?" Amelia asks quietly.

"Yes, forever," I say smiling. She now smiles along with me. "Alright, let's get your stuff," I say. I go over to the bag I had packed her. I kneel down and pick out an outfit out of it. It was a pink short sleeve shirt with a dark blue polka dot skirt. I give them to her and help her change. After she changes I help her put on some brown sandals and put her hair in Dutch braids.

"You ready?" I ask. She smiles at me and nods. "Okay." I grab the bag. We walk out to my car. I help her into the car and I drive to my house.

We arrive and I help Amelia out of the car. We go into the house and I show her to her room.

"It's so big." She says looking around. I laugh slightly. She walks over to the window and looks outside.

"Is that a pool?" She asks looking back at me with a huge smile on her face.

"Yeah, it is. Once we get you a swimsuit you can go swimming." I say smiling at her.

"Really?" I nod smiling. She continues to look out at the pool and around the yard.

"Melissa?" Amelia asks quietly still looking outside.

"Yes?" I ask.

"Why am I going to be living with you?" Amelia asks turning to look at me.

"Well, you daddy is in a place where he can't take care of you anymore and we don't know where your mommy is. So, you're going to live with me." I explain.

"So you're going to be like my mommy?" Amelia asks.

"Yes, kind of," I say.

"You're not going to be like my other mommy, right? You're not going to die, right?" Amelia asks. I give her a sympathetic look.

"No, sweetheart. I'm not going to die." I say.

"Good, because I like you," Amelia says smiling at me. I laugh a little.

"I like you too," I say.
