One Step Closer (Sequel to OSAAT)

Chapter Seven

When I got to the room, I walked back to the bedroom area.

"Ali? Ali, what are you doing?" I asked her. She had her suitcase in her hand and her keys and phone in the other.

"I'm leaving."

"Ali. What are you talking about?" I said, but she didn't reply. She rolled her suitcase down the hallway and before I could catch up with her she was gone. I was about to start looking for her outside when Niall pinned me to the wall a little.

"Tell me what's going on." I looked at him and he looked concerened in every possible way.

Ali's POV

I walked outside with my suitcase and in the direction of my car. I had decided to drive to Lauren and I's apartment, condo, small house thing. I wasn't planning on telling anyone, especially not Jack. I need to figure out what the hell I'm going to do... it's ridiculous how screwed I am. On the way to my car I bumped into someone.

"Oh, sorr- Ali, where are you going?" Jack asked me and I sighed to myself.

"Somewhere that isn't here. Anywhere that isn't here." I said.

"Okay, well be careful..." he said and started to lean in closer to me.

"What are you doing?" I said and he looked a little confused. "Jack, I'm trying to get away from this, not deeper into it." I said and shook my head as I threw my suitcase into my car and got in myself.

"I didn't mean anything by it, Ali, I wasn't thinking." he said, through the window.

"Bye, Jack." I said and drove away before anything else could be said.

Lauren's POV

"Niall, I know just as much as you do." I said and pushed him away from me a little. He looked like he was going to burst out into tears any minute.

"Lauren, please. Just tell me anything you know." he said.

"Niall, I don't know anything. I know that she has been with him since you guys left pretty much, but that's about it. As to why she did it, I have no clue and would like to ask her about it, but now I can't considering she just left... with a suitcase."

"Well, why didn't you stop her?!"

"Because you came before I could, Niall, that's why." I said and he looked away from me.

"Oh." he said and I rolled my eyes. I walked back to my dorm room and he followed me. I looked back at him.

"Niall, are you okay?" I asked him and he shrugged.

"I love Ali... how could she do that?" he asked me and I shrugged.

"I'm sorry, but I don't know." I said and kissed his cheek.

Ali's POV

Two hours and 137 texts later, I got to my destination. It was a good thing I didn't have class for the next few days. I sat on our couch as just thought to myself for a moment. After a few outburts of emotions I heard someone open the door. My eyes widened and I dashed into the kitchen and in one of the cabinets. How the hell do I fit in here...?

"Oh shit..." I heard someone say and started to panic. "Okay. I know you're in here! I'm calling the cops!" I heard the guy say and I became instantly confused.

"I already called the cops!" I said in my best man voice. I sneaked out of the cabinet and the lights suddenly went out. I looked around, but couldn't see anything.

"Look, you seem like a small person." I heard the guy again, though his voice kept getting deeper and deeper, but it sounded familar. I looked in front of me and finally saw a figure. Shit! "I'll give you ten seconds to run, and I won't call anyone."

"Wait, hold up, Austin?" I said and I heard a sigh of relief.

"Ew, wait, booger eater #8?!" he said and I rolled my eyes and punched his arm, well I think it was his arm, I couldn't really tell. "Ow! I'm sorry! You must be #5, you like punching the stomachs after eating the boogers!"

"Oops." I said and the lights can back on. My eyes widened. "Dick nose... where did your hair go?!"

"It's on my head.." he said and felt his head and then felt his nose. "Dick nose? I don't have a dick nose! Rude!" he said and I laughed. He hugged me and pulled my hair and I hugged back and pinched his back. "Owwww. Stop hurting me!"

"You pulled my hair!" I said and sniffled.

"Ali, I'm sorry... I was kidding, I didn't mean to make you cry." Austin said.

"No, you didn't make me cry."

"Ali... what's wrong?" he asked me and I hugged him and started crying.

"Whoa, it's different having someone taller than Lauren cry while hugging me." he said and I laughed a little, but kept crying. We walked over to the couch and sat down. "Ali, tell me what's wrong. I'll stop being mean Austin long enough for you to tell me what happened." I stayed quiet for a little while, but finally looked up at him.

"I cheated on Niall." I said and I could tell Austin was trying not to show too much shock.

"What...? But, Ali, you worship Niall..." he said and I nodded.

"I know. I don't know what I was thinking. But Niall found out because Lauren told him to go to the guys dorm room and we were... there."

"WHOA. That kind of cheating?!" Austin said and I put a pillow over my face. "Oh, sorry. Whoa, that kind of cheating?" he said, making himself sound calmer.

"Austin, you aren't helping." I said and cried into the pillow.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." he said and took the pillow off of my face. "What happened?"

"Well, Lauren's friend, Jack, and I were pretty close and... well, Niall hadn't been messaging me at like all... so I got desperate... and it was in the moment..." I said and Austin looked very concerned.

"Ali... that's not like you." Austin said and I nodded.

"I know, I don't know why I did it! But now Niall hates me, I don't have a boyfriend, because he hates me. Lauren hates me, Jack probably hates me... the rest of One Direction will hate me soon. Directioners are going to hate me for breaking Niall... The whole world is going to hate me and I already hate me!" I said and looked at Austin. "And you've always hated me, so that doesn't help." I said and Austin looked at me.

"Ali, I do not hate you. I love you very much, just in a differeny way, okay? No one hates you and you shouldn't hate yourself! And if you think Lauren hates you, you have problems, because you two are inseperable. Lauren loves you more than I do." he said and I sniffled a little.

"Austin, I really messed up." I said and Austin hugged me again.
