One Step Closer (Sequel to OSAAT)

Chapter Four

I woke up to Ricky shaking me lighty.

"What? What!" I said, annoyed that I was being woken up. He stepped back a little and shook his head at me.

"Someone is a little sassy this morning." he said and I rolled my eyes and put my pillow over my face. "Don't suffocate yourself. I was just waking you up to tell you I was leaving."

"I didn't really care to know that!" I yelled, very grumpily.

"Hey, is that any way to treat your boyfriend?" he said and laughed to himself.

"Out. Now." I said and he left after giving me a kiss on the cheek. I got comfortable again and Ali tiptoed into our dorm. I looked at her and when she made eye contact with me, she fell backwards a little and put her hand over her heart.

"Jesus! Don't do that." she said and I just stared at her.

"Then don't go and spend the night with Jack! Oh, sorry, on Jack." I said in a snobby accent. I stood up and walked into the kitchen. I heard her gulp and she stayed still.

"Lori... I, uh..."

"What, you can explain?" I asked her and then walked back to her, and got fairly close to her. "You're dating Niall Horan, well I thought you were, but obviously he isn't good enough for you. What the hell, Ali? I mean, I wouldn't be half as pissed off at you as I am if you would have told me."

"Lauren... if I had told you, yo-"

"I would have stopped you from making the worst decision of your life? Oh, I know." I said and she groaned.

"Look, I love Niall, okay? It's not like I'm cheating on Niall... I mean technically Jack and I aren't in a relationship..."

"Oh, nope. You're just fuck buddies and that isn't cheating at all, just because you and Niall haven't gone that far yet... or have you? I mean, I thought you told me everything, but I was mistaken."

"Look, it's not that big of a deal!"

"Oh, no, it's totally not a big deal. You're only having sex with one of my best friends while you're dating a whole other person. Not a big deal at all!"

"Would you be quiet! Everyone is going to hear you!" she said and I sighed. "I'm sorry that I didn't tell you... I, it wasn't suppose to happen.. I just... Niall never talks to me anymore, not as much as he use to." she said and sighed.

"Look, just tell me how this all got started." She sighed.

"Fine."

Ali's POV

-Flashback-

I had invited Jack over to my dorm to study and hang out. Lauren was out with Ricky, Luke, and some of her other guy friends having a little back to school "celebration". Jack and I were invited too, but we weren't very interested. On the first day of school we have mini pre-tests that are study worthy, even if they are pre-test, it can't hurt to study what you know already. We got a little off topic when Jack asked me about One Direction. I told him how weird it was to be their biggest fan and know them personally.

"So, how's Niall?" Jack asked me and my smile turned a little upside down and I started to get a little upset. "Ali, what's wrong?"

"Nothing... I just miss talking to Niall... we used to talk everyday, all day. But now, I'm lucky to get a small conversation with him every two days..." I said and started to sniffle.

"Hey, it's okay!" he said and hugged me. I hugged him back and just looked at him. "It'll be okay. If you ever need help with anything, you come to the wonderful Jack! He will be here to assist you!" he said and I smiled. We started to lean into each other and before I knew it, are lips met and we were kissing. I knew I needed stop, but I couldn't. Jack made me feel a little safer and before I knew it, we were full out making out on my bed. I realized that I just needed someone and I think Jack realized that too. This all seemed way to crazy and I needed to stop myself, but before I could things had gone a little to far. And the worst part was,

I was liking it.

-End of le Flashback-

"I just... I didn't..." I said and Lauren just stared at me, her mouth completely open. "Look, you don't get it!" I said and stormed out of our room. I didn't know where I was going. I was in what I wore yesterday and my class didn't start for another hour and a half. Before I could realize what I was doing, I went to Jack's door building and signed in. I went to his dorm room and knocked on the door. He opened the door, only in pajama bottoms. He saw it was me and his expression changed from anger to happy.

"You okay?" he asked me and I shook my head.

"Lauren knows... she knows and I'm scared she's going to tell Niall." I said, and I wish I hadn't. The expression on his face was something I had never seen.

"Ali... you can't let her do that. Wait, why did you tell her?!"

"I didn't! She already knew! And what did you think she was going to say when I came home, in the morning?" I asked him and he sighed and rubbed his face. "Did she see a message or something?" I asked him and he covered his face.

"Oh my god. I'm such an idiot."

"What, what did you do?"

"She had my phone! That's why she was acting a little different. Oh geez."

Lauren's POV

A few hours after Ali left and I gave up on trying to contact her, I quickly got ready for class. Again, I only had drama class today.

Ricky texted me and told me that he would pick me up soon. I grabbed everything I needed and grabbed my phone. Louis had texted me and he had also called me. I quickly called him back and he answered fairly quickly.

"Hey!" he answered very excited.

"Hi." I said, trying to sound as normal as I could. Niall could be in the same room... oh god, should I tell Louis?

"Helllllloooo? Anyone home?" I heard Louis.

"Oh, sorry. What did you say?" I asked him.

"Laur, are you okay?" he asked me and I shook my head to myself.

"Yeah, perfect! Just a little tired. I've not had any coffee or anything yet." I said.

"Oh, well, what I was saying was that the boys and I have a little break coming up this week and Niall, Harry, and I were wondering if you would like us to come down there." he said and I smiled. Perfect way for Niall to find out about Jack and Ali...

"That sounds perfect! Oh, and tell Niall not to Ali. We want to surprise her! Harry and you can't tell anyone either." I said and he laughed.

"Well, alright. I'll talk to you later, beautiful. Love you!"

"Okay, love you too!" I said and he ended the call.

This is going to turn out horrendously.

After a little while, Ricky texted me and told me he was outside of my dorm building. I grabbed my stuff and walked outside of the dorm. I said a quick 'hi' to a few people I passed. When I got to Ricky's car, Jack wasn't in there, but Luke was and so was Nick, my other drama friend.

"Where's Jack?" I asked Ricky and without him making eye contact with me he replied: "Ali and him are having a sick day."

So... getting a little drama filled, huh?

I've been updating like crazy on this here fanfic. (Just like I did at the start of OSAAT... ;) )

I start testing tomorrow, so if I'm a rude little butthole to you, remind me that I need to switch back into "School is almost over!" mode instead of "It's testing time. Yay. Fruit all of you fruting people".
