Chapter Thirty-Six

"I'm sorry, okay? Like I knew I was going to be talking to him for more than ten minutes!" Jack said on our way to the movies.

"It took you an entire hour to talk to one guy..." I said and sighed. "I'm not going to eat after the movie, just so you know."

"Then we won't go to dinner." he said and I looked at him.

"Why not eat and go to a different showing?" I asked him.

"Because we could just share a popcorn and a coke at the movie."

"So romantic." I said and crossed my arms.

"Are you actually upset that I had to have an important conversation?"

"No, I'm just tired and hungry." I said and rested my head on the window.

"Where do you want to go? To eat, I mean?" Jack asked me and I looked at him.

"We can just share a popcorn." I said and he shook his head.

"No, we're going to go to dinner. This is going to be a legitimate date, Alison Claire. And it's going to be the best legitimate date you have ever been on."

"Okay, I understand the 'Alison Claire' thing now." I said and he looked at me.

"Heh?" he asked me.

"You're totally ripping Augustus Waters off with Hazel Grace. You can't do that, I won't let you."

"I will have you know that I'm just very fond of the name Alison Claire." he said and I smiled at him.

"I think we just go get some pizza." I said and he nodded.

"I know just the place to get pizza from! It's a magical place that no one has ever been... you wanna know what's it called? Piper's Pizza!" Jack said and I laughed. Piper's Pizza was a local pizza place that Lauren and I went to all the time.

"I've heard of that place! You want to know a secret?"

"Yeah! Secrets are fun."

"Piper... she's a unicorn!" I said and Jack gasped. We both laughed and I laid my head on his shoulder. "We're really weird."

"Yeah, we definitely need help."

"What if Piper's dead? I just called her a unicorn."

"I cannot believe you, Alison Claire."

"We need to go to a mental institute."

"I'll sign your papers if you sign mine."

"Okay, let's change the subject." I said and looked at him. He laughed and turned into the parking lot of Piper's Pizza.

"This better be the best date ever, or we're going to have to go on one every night until we finally have the best date ever."

"Can I lie and say it's not the best date ever so we can go on a date every night anyway?" I asked him, getting out of the car.

"Oh, I encourage that, Ali-cat."

"Oh my God, you are so lame." I said and we both walked into the building.

Luke's POV

"Well, I should really get back to my dorm. I have a lot of homework and my new roommate is weird about not having someone to study with." Kylie said and I nodded. We were standing in front of her dorm. "I had an amazing time tonight, Luke... thanks. It's really fun to be able to go on dates like that." she said and I smiled at her. She stepped on her tiptoes and pecked my lips. "See you later!" she said and ran into the dorm building. I stared at the building in shock.
