One Step Closer (Sequel to OSAAT)

Chapter Twenty-One.

Lauren's POV

"Where are they?" I asked Ali and she shrugged. "It's been an hour." I said and sat down on the couch. I just needed to talk to Austin. Our room door opened, and in walked Austin and Jack. "What took so long?"

"There was a lot of traffic... it was like 4th of July weekend out there." Jack said and I sighed. I looked at Austin and he smiled at me.

"Lauren, you said you needed to tal-" Ali started and I cut her off.

"No, I don't need to." I looked at her and she nodded.

"I met Cara." Jack said, randomly.

"Cara?" Luke asked.

"Cara." Jack said, looking at Luke. "She was at the station... just hanging out with handcuffs on."

"Whoa, are you kidding?" he asked Jack and he shook his head. "I have to go see he-"

"Who is Cara?" Ali asked, confused.

"Luke's Foster sister..." I answered and Luke looked at me.

"You remembered that?" he asked me and I nodded.

"I'll go with you, if you want." He nodded and I looked at Ricky. He rolled his eyes and looked down.

"We'll just run down there really fast." Luke said.

"Okay... we'll all be here." Ali said and everyone except for Ricky nodded.

"I actually have to go. I have a date." he said and walked past me before I could say anything.

"Well, alright... uh, yeah. Luke and I will be right back." I said and walked to the door. Luke followed me, and we quickly walked down the hallway and out of the building.

Ali's POV

"So... what happened between Ricky and Lauren?" I asked Jack.

"She didn't tell you?" Jack asked me and I shook my head, slowly. "Then... nothing happened."

"Jack." I said and he shrugged. "Jackson." He whistled and looked around. "Jackson Cole Taylor."

"Ricky made out with her." Jack said. Austin and I gasped.

"Like, made out?" We asked in unison.

"Yes, like made out." Jack said and my eyes widened.

"Why'd he do that?!" I asked. "Why didn't she tell me?"

"I don't know the answer to either of those questions. Well, I mean, Ricky started liking Lauren... so, I guess that's why he did it."

"Does Louis know?" I asked him and he shrugged.

"I have no clue." he said and I looked at Austin.

"He doesn't know about Austin."

"You too? Dude, that's not cool." Jack said, looking at Austin.

"I... Jack smokes!" Austin said and ran out of the room. My eyes widened and I looked at Jack.

"Fuck you, you littl-" Jack started and I slapped his arm. "Ow!"

"He's lying, right?"

"Yeah? Of course." Jack said and I glare at him. "It was a one time thing, okay? When I saw you at the cafe... I just got a little down."

"That doesn't make it okay." I said.

"I'm sorry, okay?"
