Toriel let me sleep in one of her guest bedrooms for the night and helped fix my wound and also helped me stitch up my robe and cloak as well. I woke up to the smell of something burning again. So much for a good morning.
I slump out of bed and put on my under clothes that I wore under my robe which was a long sleeved turtle neck to hide any skin that could show and some black skinny jeans along with my black boots. I didn't dress like this normally of course sense this was just for my costume which is now going to be my everyday disguise for the rest of my life, if I ever get out of this place.
I open the door and the smell is even worse than in the bedroom. I grab my mask to keep out the smoke but mostly the smell out which would've been effective if I had fresh rose petals to stuff in the beak part of the mask. I take the nearest vase of rotted yellow flowers and put them in the mask. The smell was bad but not as horrible compared to what I was trying to avoid smelling.
"Toriel! Where are you and what is that awful smell!?!"
I walk into the kitchen and the rotting flowers are now just emphasizing to the stench. I start to gag and taste a bit of bile coming up my throat. I see Toriel casually...cooking to what are supposed to be cookies except they were burnt enough that the contents of the cookies where no longer obvious to what she put in them.
"Good morning Arie! You're just in time to taste test some of my freshly baked batch of cookies! I tried a new recipe and I want you to be to the first to try them!" She says smiling while holding a plate of smoking cookies.
Honestly there are times where you question if she's been plotting to kill you all this time or she's just so motherly-like with everything except cooking.
"I'm―honored Toriel but don't you think I should eat some real food for breakfast before I spoil my appetite over some cookies?"
She gives me a face as if she had been shot and almost drops the plate of cookies frantically down on the stove.
"Oh my goodness I got so caught up making cookies, I forgot to make you breakfast!!! I'll be right on it!" She panics.
"No, no it's fine! You don't have to make me breakfast!" You say stopping her.
"Are you sure?" She says concerned.
You quickly thought up a good idea and a great excuse.
"I'll go out into the Ruins and find more snails and dust to help you make breakfast!" I say frantically.
"That's a wonderful Idea Arie! But I would rather have you find the snails and I will go and collect the dust, okay?"
"Great, thanks!" I say rushing to the door.
"But before you leave you must 'dress accordingly,'Got it?"
I slump and slouch my shoulders forward and sigh as if I was five years old,
"Okay."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I put on the rest of my disguise and sprinkle a bit of dust on me and take my scythe just in case I run into any bigger monsters that might try to size me up. I walk outside and take a big breathe of 'fresh' air through my mask. I look around and noticed small flower sized holes around the cottage, specifically around the front the windows. You weren't surprised to see Flowey pop up after walking just out of sight of Toriels cottage.
"Oh Asgore she didn't kill you!?! I thought for sure she killed you after what I heard last night at dinner!" He cried.
"Please, I barely survived her fireballs and it was quite difficult talking to her at the same time without dying of heat in this thing. There's just too many layers for this disguise." I complain.
"So does she know that you're a human?"
"Yes, but she was quite surprised when she found out." I say as I walk in the direction of where the candy bowl is.
"How did she find out? Did she find out by smell?" He says worried.
"The opposite actually, she found out when a fireball grazed my right arm and burned through the fabric along with some skin." I say gently patting the spot where she burned me.
"Yes! My idea worked!"
You were a little disturbed by how happy Flowey was with his idea of killing a monster worked, just so you could smell like one.
"So what are you doing back in this area, Arie?" Flowey asks.
Your stomach gurgles loud enough for Flowey to hear, causing you blush behind your mask.
"You came back to get the monster candy?" He says unamused folding his leaf arms and looking up at you.
"Have you seen let alone smell Toriel's cooking!?"
Flowey lifts up one of his leaves to say something but stopped himself as he sees you make direct eye contact with him.
"Yeah, that's what I thought." I say as I start to shovel handfuls of candy into my slightly larger pouch.
I find a comfy place to sit down in the red and yellow patches of leaves and start to nibble on the monster candy. I give Flowey a monster candy and munch in the silence just us two crunching away on the only edible thing in the ruins. You noticed that Flowey finished his monster candy so you decide to ask him a few questions, mainly of why he was happy about his 'smell idea' working.
"Hey Flowey, why were you happy about your 'smell idea' working? I mean, I had to kill that monster in order to survive. I thought you were just as sad about it as I was?"
"...There are many reason to why I acted the way I did, and there are many more reasons that lead to more answers that you are not ready for."
"...Okay then..."
And that was the end of that. I continued finishing the rest of my monster candy and started searching for snails for Toriel.
