The Water Dragon Slayer Soars

Chapter 1Joining the Guild

Long ago in the country of Fiore in the small town of Magnolia was the wizards guild Fairy Tail. Our story begins at the Magnolia train station where a very motion sick girl and her talking, flying cat were just disembarking.

"Ugh... I am NEVER riding a train again," groaned Aviana Haze, a sixteen-year-old water dragon slayer. She was on the verge of puking on her aquamarine t-shirt and denim jean shorts. Her black hair was pulled back in a ponytail and her sea green eyes were scrunched.

Her light brown cat, Katsandra, sighed, "You always say that and yet we always end up using public transportation. And you always end up like this to boot," she said rolling her amber eyes.

"Urk... Please... don't go there," Aviana said her voice still shaky. She and Katsandra moved through the city streets. As Aveana started to feel better she started to wonder if they would ever find what they were looking for. Magnolia was bigger than they had anticipated. "Do you think we will ever find Fairy Tail in this huge place," She inquired of Katsandra.

"I'm not- " Katsandra started only to get interrupted by a nearby shopkeeper, who had overheard.

"You youngins lookin' for Fairy Tail are ya," the elderly woman said, missing teeth gave her an odd accent.

"Yes ma'am we are, do you know where we might find it," Katsandra responded knowing full well that Aviana would be too shy to do it herself.

The shopkeeper grinned, "It would be in the very back ah town. Just past the big cathedral at the top of that there hill."

Aviana, who was so shy that her knees were trembling, stuttered, "Th-thank you so much," and, with Katsandra in tow, headed in that direction.

As they approached the hill they saw stone stairs leading up to a large building. Above the door of that building waved a large orange flag with a white Fairy Tail emblem on it. "That's gotta be it," Aviana cried in jubilation.

"So it seems," Katsandra stated, marginally less excited as her partner, but still happy to see Aviana's smile.

They climbed the steps and, after Aviana paused at the door, entered the guild hall. They stared around them the place was full of wizards, and while most of them were goofing off, some were taking jobs off of a big request board and would then walk past them and off to do whatever job they had taken. They approached the front counter and Katsandra asked the young women working it, "Are you the guild master?"

"Oh no, I am just an assistant of sorts. My name is Mirajane but you can call me Mira. Why, do you need the master," the girl responded cheerfully.

This time Aviana spoke, "We were hoping to join the guild, but we know we need the master's consent," she said. She managed to hide her shyness which wasn't too hard. Mira just radiated cheerfulness. Even her simple outfit of a dark red dress with pink trimmings seemed to brighten up the whole guild.

Mira grinned "Oh, I'll go see if he's busy then," She heads through a door behind the counter. and after she's gone a man wearing nothing but his shorts comes over. He had a dark blue guild mark on his chest.

"Hey, my name's Gray. I heard you wanted to join the guild. What kind of magic do you use," He asked?

Aviana's shyness kicked in, but she managed to sputter out, "Uh... H-Hi, I'm Aviana and thi-this is Katsandra. Her magic allows her to fly and me... w-well I use water dragon slaying magic, b-but please don't tell anyone else until I have actually joined the guild."

Gray looked shocked, but then smirked and said, good-naturedly, "Sure thing, but just to warn you, if you join you will not be the only one who can you that kind of magic. We have a fire dragon slayer at this guild too."
