Chapter 9 Phantom Lord

When they returned to Magnolia and made their way back to the guild Gray and Natsu were complaining about not getting the reward. Lucy was ecstatic because she had gotten the golden zodiac key Sagittarius the centaur. Aviana and Cain remained silent with Katsandra cause they knew what awaited them when they returned to the guild. Erza finally burst their bubble, "Don't forget you still face punishment when we return." she said, "I personally would overlook your actions this time but it is up to the Master to render a final verdict and I have no intention of defending you. I'm actually hoping he uses THAT punishment."

Natsu froze then started to sweat like crazy. He tried to run but Erza caught him by his scarf, "NO!" he cried, "Anything but that!"

"What is it?" Lucy asked terrified.

Aviana looked at Cain raising an eyebrow. He shook his head, he didn't have any idea either. As the group continued towards the guild. As they walk Aviana hear the whisperings of people talking about the guild. Many shot them sympathetic looks as they walked by. Then the guild came into view. Everyone froze their faces a mix of shock, rage, and grief. Sticking through the guild at various angles were huge metal beams. "OUR GUILD HALL!" Natsu shouted, his emotions were so mixed that he was crying while looking like he wanted to destroy something.

"What happened here?" Erza growled.

"Phantom Lord." said a voice behind them. They spun around and saw Mira standing behind them, "It's hard to believe but Phantom Lord did this."

Mira lead them to the basement of the guild. Everyone was there and it seemed no one had been hurt by the attack. Aviana could hear everyone was upset about the guild. Some were so mad that they wanted to attack Phantom Lord in retaliation. Those who still had their wits about them kept shooting down the idea.

Mira lead them over to the master. "Master, Erza and the others have returned."

The master apparently didn't care about the state of the guild. He was chugging a large soda. He raised a hand in greeting, "Yo."

Natsu was going berserk, "Master this isn't the time to drink soda!" he shouted.

"Your right." the master sighed then tried to put on an angry face, "How dare you lot go on an S-Class quest without my permission."

"Now's not the time for—" Natsu started but was cut off.

"Prepare yourselves for punishment!" Then the master whacked each of them on the head, saying 'bad' with each hit. It didn't hurt but it definitely embarrassed Aviana.

Even Erza was upset by the master lack of regard for the guild hall, "Master don't you understand our current situation!" she cried.

"YEAH! THEY WRECKED OUR GUILD HALL!" Natsu shouted.

The master still didn't seem concerned, "Just calm down, it's nothing to make a fuss about. No one was hurt. And it's Phantom we're talking about. They know the laws. They wasted their time attacking an empty guild. That's as far as they'll go. If they're not gonna resort to attacking us head on and using such sneaking tactics then we'll just ignore it. We'll work from down here until the upstairs is fixed."

Natsu slammed his fist on the counter, "I CAN'T ACCEPT THAT!!! I WON'T FEEL RIGHT TO WE'VE RETURNED THE FAVOR AND SMASHED THEM!!!"

The master started to get mad, "That's enough Natsu. The council is already monitoring us and if we start an inter-guild war, which is illegal, they will force Fairy Tail to disband." Then he excused himself to go to the bathroom. Which didn't surprise Aviana with the amount of soda he had just chugged.
