Chapter 23 A New Beginning

After everyone regroups Wendy and Carla lead them to the Cait Shelter guild. Once there the Guild Master, Rorbaul, explains that Cait Shelter had been targeted because it's members are descendants of the Nirvit tribe, the original creators of Nirvana. Since most of the group is in rough shape the members of the guild offer everyone rooms to freshen up and change in. Once everyone is done and gathers in the city square outside of Cait Shelter's guild hall, which was a cat-head shaped tent for some odd reason, where Rorbaul addresses them once more, "Fairy Tail, Blue Pegasus, Lamia Scale, and you, Wendy and Carla. Congratulations on defeating the Oración Seis and halting Nirvana. As a representative from the local union of guilds, I, Rorbaul, offer you my thanks.Thank you. Thank you ever so much."

Then Aviana claps her hand over her ears as Ichya replies loudly, "You're most welcome Master Rorbaul!!!! Ah, the conflict with the Oración Seis was one fierce battle after another!!! It was far from an easy task!!! Yet our bonds of comradeship ultimately lead us to victory!!!!" The other three from Blue Pegasus instantly praise him and Aviana notices Cain rolling his eyes are their behavior in her peripheral vision. She also hears Gray and Lucy muttering to each other under their breath.

Looking over at the Lamia Scale wizards Aviana sees Jura praising Leon and Sherry for their hard work. Then most of the group begins celebrating their success on the mission. Aviana sighs and watches, something tells her something is wrong and her instincts are proven correct when Rorbaul and the rest of the Cait Shelter guild members don't join them. When everyone pauses staring at them in confusion Rorbaul addresses them once more, "My friends... I must sincerely apologize to you all... for concealing the truth about the Nirvit tribe."

Happy looks slightly annoyed, "You ruined the whole mood for that?"

"Seriously we don't even mind, right guys?" Natsu mutters.

"I don't mind either, master," Wendy adds.

Rorbaul sighs, "Everyone... I ask that you listen carefully to what I am about to reveal. First of all... we are not descendents of the Nirvit tribe. We ARE the Nirvit tribe. The man responsible for constructing Nirvana four hundred years ago, was I."

"What?!" Leon yells.

Lucy stares in shock and whispers, "No way..."

"Four Hundred...?!" Happy stares at Rorbaul.

Rorbaul continues, "Four hundred years ago... in the hope of putting an end to the wars that ravaged the world, I created the magic of reversal, Nirvana. Nirvana became our home and nation, a symbol of peace for many long years. But a great power will always find itself opposed by another. For all the darkness that it had turned to light, Nirvana had taken more and more darkness onto itself. It is a matter of balance. It was impossible to simply change people's nature from darkness to light. Where darkness is born so must be light and where light is born so must be darkness."

"Now that you mention it that makes sense..." Gray mutters.

"The darkness that had been lost from the targets Nirvana came to settle on the Nirvits themselves," Rorbaul explains.

"No," Wendy whimpers.

Rorbaul sighs, "It was hell. We fought amongst ourselves almost to extinction. I was the only one to survive."

Wendy's eyes are wide and she's staring at her guild master in shock.

After a moment Rorbaul corrects himself, "No... I suppose even that is no longer accurate. Even my own body perished many years ago now. I remain as little more than a spirit. In order to atone for the sin I committed and in order to find one with the power to do what I could not, who might destroy Nivana in my stead I have watched over this place for four hundred years. Now, my task is finally over."
