I wiped the tea that was spilled on the floor and examined my hand.

It was red and swollen. Blisters had formed due to the extreme high temperature that my hand was exposed to. Although it'd heal, but it'll still take some time.

"Hannah! Where are you?" I heard Taylor's irritated voice calling me again.

"Coming." I said after clearing my throat.

I quickly collected my hair into a high ponytail and wiped my eyes to hide all signs of my breakdown.

When I walked in the living room, I saw Taylor standing with her arms crossed over her chest and Jacob sitting on the couch smirking.

"Hey! When did you come back?" I asked Taylor.

"When you were busy hiding from me." She said, rolling her eyes.

"I was just cleaning the kitchen." I replied, hoping she won't know I'm lying.

She looked at me with sympathy and nodded in understanding.

Taylor always helped me with my work when the other pack members won't be able to notice. Sometimes I would even wake up and find all the chores already completed.

"I'm going out with Jacob. I'll be back by the evening." She told me.

"Don't." I said, before I could stop myself.

"What's wrong?" She asked me confused.

He looked at me with a warning glare and I backed down.

I shook my head and sent a fake smile towards her way.

I knew she didn't buy it but thankfully didn't question me about it.

"Bye. I'll miss you." She said, hugging me.

I hugged her back and let her presence made me feel secure. Involuntarily a sob escaped my lips before I could hold it back.

She looked at me and then gasped.

"Oh my God! What happened?" She said, looking at my burnt hand.

I hid it behind my back but she pulled it out again.

When I looked at Jacob, he motioned for me to keep my mouth shut while breathing heavily.

"Kitchen." I croaked, hoping she wouldn't question me further.

She huffed and brought the first aid kit despite me telling her it was okay.

"How many times should I tell you to work carefully. Pigs might start flying but you won't stop being a klutz." She scolded, her tone laced with concern.

I flinched as she applied the ointment and bit my lip to contain my tears.

After asking me a million times if I was okay, Taylor left with Jacob.

"Be safe." I whispered under my breath.

This continued for a while.

He would come and torture me when no one was around. The guy wasn't stupid. He was an Alpha for God's sake.

Unfortunately, he had guessed something was fishy. And he knew who would have all the answers to his questions.

That's right. Me.

But I would never give him the satisfaction of having an upper hand over me and budged to answer him.

His level of torture increased as time passed by but never did I open my mouth in front of anybody.
