Present (End of Flashback)

"If you don't mind me asking... what happened after she got married to that a**hole?" Ashler asked carefully, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse I was proved wrong. Things kept on getting downhill from there. I was worried sick about Taylor but nobody was ready to understand my concern. Cameron was declared a traitor by everyone in our pack and I was left alone to mourn for him. The only good thing that happened to me during that year was Andrew. He raised my status to more than just an omega in the pack, kept on listening to my stories about Taylor and Cam and would hold me tight whenever I'd cry myself to sleep." I explained.

Although I was burning inside with memories, I did not let it show.

"And...Jacob?" The question that I was dreading was finally asked.

"Jacob turned out to be a psycho who wanted to build up an army of rogues and be the strongest pack in the state by destroying other packs. When Taylor refused to support him in his sick missions, Jacob took her life. He didn't think twice before murdering her and dumping her body in front of our house." I said, gritting my teeth in agony.

I dared to look at Ashler and watched him hide a gasp that was about to escape him. "How can someone even treat their own mate like this? I can't even think of someone touching a strand of your hair."

"He was sick. Enraged and betrayed, the members of our pack attacked the group of rogues working with Jacob. We were able to kill most of the rogues but somehow he managed to escape from there with a few. Lastly we were the ones left grieving for Taylor's loss." I said, tears brimming in my eyes.

"I'm guessing that now he came back after so long with a stronger army seeking revenge which unfortunately he was successful in doing so." He growled.

Ashler had never met Taylor, but his concern for her and my pack members had really touched my heart. He had a heart of gold behind his strong Alpha exterior that draws me to him.

"I never thought I'd say this to you but I'm glad Andrew was there for you when I hadn't met you because I can't even imagine you going through all of it alone. I just wish I had come into your life before him, maybe things would've been different." He said, letting out a humorless laugh. "I now know why you don't want to dump Andrew and I don't even want to force you into doing something that you don't want to." He said, smiling sadly.

"Thank you Ashler. Thank you for letting me know that all mates are not monsters like Jacob who ruin your lives. Thank you for everything." I replied.

I really didn't want to think about who I'll choose or reject at this moment. All that mattered to me was this guy in front of me.

Maybe it was because of the heat of the moment but I don't know what came over me as I grabbed him by his cheeks and pulled him into a deep kiss letting him know about everything that I couldn't say. I'm always left speechless by this man who I was blessed to have as my mate.

He didn't need to be told twice before he kissed me back as passionately turning it into a really heated kiss. My hands made way to his hair, grabbing and tugging.

His hands moved down from my shoulders to my waist, pulling me closer if that's even possible.

It certainly worked in my favor because all I wanted to do was to be close to him, to enjoy his comfort and just his presence. I've never felt this way about him before.

I just took him as my mate that I didn't want before, but right now he was simply....Ashler. My mate, Ashler.

"You look really hot in my clothes." He said in a low voice. I looked at him and all I saw was passion, lust and.... something more.
