"Back off, motherfuckers!" Keith growled as he swiftly drew his lion to paw at the soldier's ships in a staggering row of destruction.
"Woah, Keith's got a potty-mouth!" Lance teased through the comms.
"Fuck off." He grunted as Red shot flares into as many enemies as possible.
Keith was not a genius, he knew that. He knew many people were not geniuses, because if they were all smart no one would call them smart. They'd just be ordinary people with ordinary intelligence. But he met genuine geniuses as he traveled throughout the galaxy. Like Katie.
Katie was the smartest person he'd ever met, she knew how to hack into any system and broke every barrier needed to accomplish whatever her mind told her to. Unknowingly she broke the barriers to Keith's heart. He doesn't blame her, he blames himself. How could someone so extraordinary ever find something remotely attractive about him? An orphan with a fucked up bloodline of a species that makes slaves out of the innocent.
Katie was awe-inspiring.
When he saw her lying on the ground lifeless it burned his heart into ashes. All her brilliance and accomplishments were thrown out the window. She was dead, she was fucking dead- he had seen those eyes full of terror that were once bright with quick-witted remarks. The thoughts that had run through the former Blade of Marmora agent's mind were soaked in enmity. She was the youngest of them all, she shouldn't have died first.
When the footage sent by Kolivan was played, Keith felt the heavens singing. A drive to fight plunged through him and seeing her in the outfit she was in was admittedly bewitching. Her awkward little smile that she had used sparingly in the castle, she looked almost comfortable. But for Keith and everyone else's sake, he hope he misinterpreted her actions.
As the Red Paladin fought beside his teammate, he glanced to the Black Lion's signal and hoped to every holy deity to mercifully give him a chance with Katie.

Lotor grabbed one of his soldier's by their uniform. His face contorted with wrath, practically flaring with fury.
"What do you mean Katie is not in her room?" Lotor shouted to a nameless droid.
"The only thing we found was an open air vent, sir."
"Find her! Bring her back! Now!" He said before reporting an abrasive search mission within the confines of his own palace.
The fools scrambled into orderly flights. Grabbing his sword he ran to the royalties' floor to find his bride-to-be and keep her away from the battle at hand.

"Shiro?"
"Oh gods, Katie!"
They ran into each other's arms, completely ignoring the fallen soldiers he had just taken down. The former gladiator dipped his head into the honey colored locks of his love, she cried into his chest. He slowly pulled away as she rubbed away her tears, he gave her a toothy grin that only made Pidge spill more tears.
"Where were you guys? I've been here for what feels like forever."
"Katie, we didn't even know you were alive."
Pidge blinked twice, looking at Shiro like he had two heads. She noticed all his distress through his facial features, from the chapped lips to the dark crescents under his eyes. The unfamiliar shadow of stubble was becoming in her eyes, an inappropriate thought she scolded herself for.
"What are you talking about?" She gasped and instinctively clung to her rightful boyfriend as an alarm blared through the ship.
The once violet lighting was blocked with red. The familiar accent of a galactic prince sprung the speakers to life.
"Find Katie Holt!"
The two lovers looked almost shocked, yet they knew Lotor would have found out about her disappearance. The footsteps of mindless droids began to sound off in the distance, getting closer.
"We have to get out of here, come on." Shiro stated before wincing at the volume of the oncoming stampedes and placing his helmet on.
The Black Paladin assisted his love through trap door before pulling himself through. Grabbing her arm and running quickly, seeing Matt and Hunk shooting at Galras. He turned on his comm hastily with his unoccupied hand.
"Get in your lions! Regroup at the castle!"
His lion seemed to notice his desperation and safely relocated the paladins within his mechanics. Katie sat on Shiro as he raced himself, she smiled as the other lions followed. Sighing before kissing a flustered Garrison graduate, she bit her lip as she excitedly thought of returning to her friends.
A shallow victory settling within her, looking at the Galra Empire in the distance. Thinking of Lotor and the moments they shared, she felt strange. An indescribably uncomfortable emotion, but the Green Paladin shrugged it off and glanced lovingly to her boyfriend. Thoughts pecking at her mind.
She knew this was not the end of her dilemmas.
