Katie was quickly getting cornered by eight androids, a spike of panic shooting through her mind. She wrapped one of them with her bayard and swung the soldier, knocking down six. Her reflexes attempted to warn her as the seventh pointed its weapon to her. A galactic bullet hitting her bodysuit, stunting her movements and forcing her to suck in a pained breath.
Another shot could be heard, a blue tint with it as it killed the droid. Pidge quickly hid herself behind a rock for protection. A low hiss escaping her lips as she turned on her comm. Blood began seeping through, dampening the dark fabric.
"Pidge, you good?" Lancd asked, worry lacing his voice.
"I'm good, thanks!" Katie's lies were held with confidence as she leaned against the stone.
The castle's attacks were enough to protect the planet from anymore Galra coming in. The Paladins were strong but over fifty soldiers would prove to be a difficult victory. She'd have to pull through it if they wanted to defend the people.
She peeked over the large rock, frowning at the multiple droids beginning to shoot towards Keith. The Red Paladin was a worthy contender but she could barely handle eight and there were clearly more than ten charging. She bit the inside of her cheek, grappling onto one of the many soldiers. Lifting her body and readying herself before kicking through five mindless robots. She grinned at Keith as he easily dusted the six others.
"Thanks."
"No problem," she paused shortly. "We seriously need the lions."
She continued with her reckless method of toppling over Galra. Her body was exhausted and by now the wound had bled out enough to edge on dangerous. Her vision was slowly tunneling and allowed her to throw down fewer enemies with every action.
"I got shot and it isn't looking too great. How many more we got left?"
Immediately the Paladins began shouting scoldings, overreacting if she were judging. Everybody but Shiro spoke and Katie took it as a good sign. He was probably focused on the battle ahead, a small wound couldn't compare to the lives of others.
It had been a while since the two had spoken, since the night she left him. Soon afterwards the others allowed Katie to join in on more missions and it distracted her from her destructive emotions. His voice gave shivers and she was no longer in a place to give into her tormented heart. A constant thought cursed her mind, she was not worthy of Takashi.
"Fallback, Pidge. We'll take you to the castle once we're finished here. Can you give us three minutes?" Hunk asked, although he sounded nervous and overly concerned he managed to keep his words orderly.
"Yeah, no worries."
Katie took cover once more near the home of the alien species they were protecting. She began struggling to keep the pain at bay, panting to shush any other noises of a reaction the injury. If she moved anymore her mortality rate rised by the second, it was more than likely a hit to her intestines which would explain the agony wrecking her body.
Fuck, she needs help. It had only been a minute and she was in intolerable pain.
Out of the corner of her eyes she saw the glint of pristine metal, a red glow in the mask. She smiled as it began to power its weapon at her. She closed her eyes, unable to feel as her body was surging with enough pain to make her feel like vomiting.
She was going to die.
"Katie Holt."
With that the soldier stilled before slumping and crashing to the ground. She was surprised but mostly curious as she looked over the mechanical corpse. It recognized her, said her name.
She was starting to think whatever holy deities controlled her life wanted her to suffer more. Turning her head, she could see the rest of robots shut down.
"What's going on?" Lance asked.
"Not sure, we'll figure it out later." Keith responded hurriedly.
"Where's Pidge?"
Before she could respond she felt herself being picked up. The monochrome colors made her smile, a thin warm feeling layering over all the agony. She sighed, fighting with her ridiculous emotions as she relaxed into the welcoming dark.
"Head back to the castle."

"She could have died but she continued to fight."
"Sounds like Pidge."
"You saw the report- the shot was close to fatal if she wasn't in the healing pod."
"She lied about being fine. I thought I saw that Galra shoot something but she said she was okay."
"She'll be fine, no offense but is anyone else wondering what the hell happened to those droids?"
The three Paladins looked to Hunk, expressions of agreement. Somehow Shiro felt their fall had something to do Katie. Then again, all things had something to do with Katie in his mind.
Keith still sat guiltily, remembering how she had helped him during the fight. She must've been in pain and yet she had forced herself to kick ass. Lance leaned against the wall with an exasperated huff as he compiled a theory as to the strange actions the droids took.
"I think...I think I know what happened."
His non-injured teammates looked curious. The Cuban ran a hand through rich brown hair, if his assumption was right then Voltron had a more serious problem at hand.
"Pidge was with Lotor. He was going to force her to marry him."
"Yeah?"
"Maybe he's looking for Pidge. Those robots were in a ridiculously large squadron- a search party. The Zukians didn't say that the Galra were harming them but they were invading."
"Great, now we've got personal problems with the most powerful empire in the galaxy."
A thick silence engulfed them, none of them wanting to admit the anger boiling. Or the terrifying expression worn by the Black Paladin.
"He's a monster, he doesn't care about Katie."
