A little over a year earlier...
I hold the screwdriver in my mouth as I examine the broken device in my hands. Carefully playing around with the inner workings until the screen glows blue.
"I call you to wish you a happy 45th birthday but instead I get to watch you work, nice." Joseph laughs over the small holographic facetime screen I had in front of me.
"Sorry hon," I mumble and take the screwdriver out of my mouth, replacing a broken cable as the screen goes out again.
"I barely have time to do anything unless I'm talking to you, but I'm good at multitasking." I offer but my husband of 27 years rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. Strong muscular arms that I wish I had wrapped around me at the moment while I stared into his beautiful light green eyes, that could read my mind like an open book.
He raises an eyebrow and I toss the screen aside, sitting on the edge of my bed as he chuckles softly.
"Listen honey, I'm a strong believer in your multitasking skills, I'm just saying that in the couple of years we've been together, I have yet to see these skills in action." He giggles and my heart aches to be with him. But there was only one week left on this trip and I would be back him with Joseph and Mari again.
