"Woah...I forgot you owned your own house," I admit as I look around Mari's small mansion on a secluded coast of Bridgeport.

"Eh, It's alright. I always wish it was smaller but maybe it won't be so bad now that I have someone to share it with." Mari says as he flips through various little notes that had been left on his doorstep. We walk into the open living room in full view of the ocean.

"You've lived here by yourself?" I ask in awe.

"Yeah...but I didn't sleep here often. I mostly passed out at the library at my college or in the on-call room at the hospital. I always kept myself busy and constantly working until I burned out then started the cycle over again," he says and throws all of the notes in the trash can behind the adjoining kitchen island.

"What about now?" I ask and he looks up at me, pushing his bangs back and sliding his glasses into place.

"What do you mean? And sit down Hamie, please. Seeing you stand on that leg hurts me," he grabs hold of my arms and forces me to sit at the kitchen island. I had enough painkillers in me to numb the pain in my foot but later it would probably hurt like a bitch with all the running and traveling.

"I mean it seems like you're not over doing it with work anymore," I comment as I grab hold of his small waist, wanting nothing more than to hold him close to me at all times

"Well, I only studied a lot because I was bored, had nothing better to do, and needed to take my mind off things. But now I have you to do all that and more, so I want to spend as much time with you as possible," he says, pressing his forehead against mine and closing his eyes.

He raiseS his hands to my face and caresses my cheeks. I close my eyes too and there was this overwhelming sense of peace having the love of my life this close.

"Hamie

"Hamie...Over the winter break, you should stay with me, here," Mari says as more of a subtle demand than asking. It's not like I could say no to him when every word that came out of his mouth was so soft and filled with so much grief.

"Of course baby, I could never go a month without you anyway," I tell him and he breathes a sigh of relief, tickling my upper lip with his breath and I kiss him softly.

"Thank you for coming all of this way, I honestly didn't expect you to," He says and I kiss him again, gently pecking his soft lips.

"Of course I came. Why do you always second guess my love for you?" I ask and open my eyes at the same time as him. When his light green eyes peer into mine, I feel my heart skip a few beats from seeing how beautiful he truly is. With every month that passes I feel like I'm learning more and more about him and yet I've still just scratched the surface.

"Because I just...I still don't feel like I deserve someone as beautiful as you, my dear Kailoa," He whispers softly and I gently run my hands up and down his sides.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again. I was made for you and you alone Mari, and what's a Kailoa?" I ask and he giggles at my incorrect pronunciation.

"It means something along the lines of comfort. You'll have to learn some Alohowa if you're going to live here," He giggles and kisses the tip of my nose while standing on his toes.

"What time is this dinner again?" I ask, accidentally catching sight of the clock behind him. He looks down at his watch.

"Oh in like two minutes or so, but that's okay, we'll be fashionably late," Mari says with a small smile and kisses me one more last time before pulling away.

"I still have to change though and you do too, come upstairs with me,"
