ᴏғ all the ways in which Kate thought she'd be spending her last minutes on earth, it wouldn't be almost crashing a fire engine because the Doctor thought that this was the best mode of transport to get them to the hospital and up to the floor on which Rory and Amy are on.

"Drive right up to the hospital, crash the ladders through the window so we can get in."

"You want me to do what?"

"Just do it!"

So Kate does. She lets out a small yelp at the impact of the ladders of the fire engine going through the window but soon the Doctor's helping her out of the truck so that she can climb up the ladders before him. She jumps down with Rory's help and soon the Doctor is standing on both of his feet again, all four of them crowded near the broken window with the ladders poking through it.

"Are we late?" the Doctor asks, though it's quite obviously rhetorical. "No! Three minutes to go, so still time."

"Time for what, Time Lord?" asks the Lady with her two daughters. Kate's eyebrows raise at her. What the hell is she doing in the hospital and with her twin daughters? Amy mouths to her that it's Prisoner Zero in one of its many forms.

"Take the disguise off, they'll find you in a heartbeat. Nobody dies."

"The Atraxi will kill me this time." Kate's eyebrows draw together until she realises that this so-called Atraxi is actually that big snowflake eye thing from earlier. "If I am to die, let there be fire," says Prisoner Zero. Very Shakespearean, Kate thinks, mouth quirking up a little.

"Okay," chuckles the Doctor as Kate moves closer to Amy and Rory, all three of them sharing very worried looks. They have three minutes until the end of the world. Three minutes until they all die. Kate just hopes that Jeff gets this right. That they've all gotten this right. "You came to this world by opening a crack in space and time. Do it again. Just leave."

"I did not open the crack."

"Somebody did."

"The cracks in the skin of the universe, don't you know where they came from? You don't, do you?" teases Prisoner Zero. Kate gulps. They're wasting time. They've got two minutes until the world goes BOOM! - or ka-boom, or ka-bam, or however they're going to blow it up - and the Doctor and Prisoner Zero are just talking. "The Doctor in the TARDIS doesn't know."
