ᴋᴀᴛᴇ, in a flowing white shirt and tight trousers she found on the TARDIS floor, feels just as much a pirate as any of the men aboard this seafaring pirate ship. Rory, sitting beside her on the barrels of rum, looks sicker than she's ever seen him, branded with a black spot thanks to the Siren that's waiting with her witchy claws outstretched towards them, stealing the lives of any man aboard the ship who falls ill. Unfortunately for them and the only other members of the ship, the TARDIS won't materialise from wherever she's disappeared so they're stuck on board, awaiting the arrival of a bloodthirsty, hauntingly beautiful Siren.
She steps into Captain Avery's cabin, playing with ends of the jacket one of the pirates had gifted her when she had complained about being cold - much to the Doctor's displeasure of course, because the pirate had smiled too warmly at her - noticing the way the Doctor stares out of the windows. She can smell the coming of the storm.
"Hey, Doc--"
"Shh," he shushes her, gently placing down the pirate's hat that Captain Avery had been wearing.
"Do you see something?" she asks softly, eyebrows furrowing as she looks out into the darkness. She can't see anything beyond the soft light coming from the cabin. It's too dark at sea.
"Feels like something's out there staring straight at me." She moves closer slowly, her hand coming out to rest on his shoulder. He doesn't make a move to notice her, keeping his eyes stuck on the darkness outside of the cabin. The first alone time they've had for hours and he hardly even realises that it's her.
Thunder rolls over the sky above them, causing the Doctor to jump and turn to look at her. As the ship starts to sway, Kate gulps back the need to say "I told you so." She could taste the storm, feel the wind starting to pick up, but nobody had believed her. Now, they'll be forced to protect the ship, just a fingertip away from the clutches of the Siren.
They rush outside, meeting up with Amy on the deck, rain battering down around them. The minute they're out in the stormy air, Kate's drenched, hair sticking to her face so that she can't see anything further than an arm's length away.
