AS the Doctor goes below with Nasreen, Kate and Rory make sure that Tony and Ambrose follow the Doctor's rules. They've already spoken to Alaya, the Homo-Reptilia they captured, and she already accused one of them of trying to kill her, which is always fun, to say the least, but all in all, it's been kind of boring waiting around for the Doctor to come back.
Kate's spent most of the time anxiously waiting, tapping her foot against the ground, checking her watch, and she's even started cleaning the church up.
But, as soon as she started stacking the chairs perfectly (in her opinion), she heard a scream from the basement. She shares a look with Rory, who's trying to patch up the maybe-dying Tony, before they go running after the sound. Once they go running in, the sight is something Kate doesn't want to see.
Ambrose is standing there, holding what might be a taser, and Alaya is lying beneath her, struggling for air.
Ambrose may just have killed Alaya.
"Ambrose, what did you do?" Kate asks as she and Rory go rushing to Alaya's side. Kate's just glad Rory is a nurse. He might be able to fix this.
"She kept taunting me about Mo and Elliot and you, Dad."
"We have to be better than this!" Tony shouts at his daughter. Kate shares a look with Rory. They might not be able to save Alaya. They might have just lost their last chance to get back Amy.
"She wouldn't tell me anything! I thought sooner or later she'd give in. I would've done. I just... I just want my family back, Dad."
Kate could scream at Ambrose. She understands her pain, but she could scream. This one selfish act means that none of them are coming back now, they've just lost their bargaining chip. Amy could be gone forever now.
"How do we help you? Tell us what to do," Rory demands of Alaya. Kate gulps back her wash of emotions. Now is not the time to have a breakdown, now is the time to fix the problems other people have created. That is what they always do.
"I knew this would come... and soon, the war."
"You're not dying. I'm not going to let you, not today."
