sʜᴇ's surrounded by stars. She's sitting at the door of the TARDIS, legs dangling in free space below her while Amy floats above her, the Doctor's hand wrapped around her ankle to keep her from floating off, and all she can see for miles upon miles upon miles are stars.

There's so many of them, all more beautiful than the last and all Kate wants to do is push herself away from the TARDIS to be among them, to be where she belongs. She can hear them whispering to her, calling on her. They want to tell her their stories, everything they've seen.

Stars are so lucky, in Kate's opinion. They get to see everything, hear everything, witness everything. They've watched wars start and end, they've watched love blossom, they've watched planets diminish into nothing. They've seen everything and they want to tell her all about it. But only if she goes to them. Only if she lets go and allows herself to be wrapped up by the stars.

"Come on, Kate," she hears the Doctor say, and he's holding his hand out, waiting to help her to her feet. She sends one last longing glance at the stars before she takes a hold of his hand and allows him to help her up.

"How are we breathing?" she asks him, inhaling deeply as her eyebrows furrow together. She's on the very edge of the TARDIS, so the Doctor takes a hold of her waist and maneuvers her around to stand beside Amy. His touch sends tingles running throughout Kate and she almost blushes.

"I've extended the air shell, we're fine." Suddenly the Doctor drops down into a crouch, looking below the TARDIS and Amy and Kate lean over him to see what he's seeing. It's looks to be a metalic airship with towers and flats and the likes protruding from it. It almost looks like a city aboard a spaceship. "Now, that's interesting!"

"What is it?" questions Kate as the Doctor pushes past them, back to his console.

"29th Century. Solar flares roast the Earth, and the entire human race packs its bags and moves out 'til the weather improves. Whole nations--"

But Kate has to cut the Doctor off by shouting on him. Amy's fallen out of the TARDIS and the only reason she's not floating away to be eaten up by the stars or some weird space creatures is because Kate's got a very tight grip on her hand. Thankfully, she spends quite a lot of time trying to keep children from running off. She's used to this. Except, she's never done this in space.
