ᴡʜᴇɴ she saw him again, lying there, head tilted to the side, she couldn't stop herself. It was like her legs moved on their own accord, rushing her to his side where she fell, landing with an almost shattering thud on her knees, needing to be as close to him as physically possible. The universe has brought them back together.
Rory had run off in the other direction, towards Amy, red hair scattered around her pale face. But Kate couldn't have stopped herself if she tried. The Doctor is here, lying below her, lips a pale shade of pink, eyelashes curving over high cheekbones, brown hair flopping in all directions.
When he blinked awake, she couldn't stop herself from smiling. He looked like a confused puppy. Or like a man looking at an angel - she thought that was a bit narcissistic to think, but she couldn't help it, there was just something about the look in his eyes when he saw her there. That look is ingrained in her memory as she stands with him, palla tight around her shoulders, watching Rory run a hand down Amy's face.
There's a loud rumble from outside. Kate jumps, it had been silent for so long, she had almost forgotten there was stuff actually happening. She had almost forgotten why River had come to employ the Roman army, why Kate had jumped from her chaise, grabbing her palla before her handmaidens could get a word in sideways and she had ran out into the darkness, catching up to the time traveller, breathless and grinning.
She had been waiting so long for the Doctor. She had been waiting ever since that small village just outside of the camp had found her in the river, had watched her fall from the sky, had deemed her their Star Goddess.
They had treated her like one ever since.
She goes running out with the Doctor, her hand locked with his, holding so tight as if both of them are afraid that if they let go they'll lose each other again.
She had never stopped thinking about him and Amy. What had they been up to without her and Rory to try and keep them in check?
The big box that had been sitting in the middle of the room she had found the Doctor in was glowing a bright green.
"What is it?" Rory asks. They watch as the pattern on the box starts to move. "What's happening?"
